Ugh, I get so sick of all the idiots on FB whining about being told "Happy Holidays" when they enter a store, restaurant, etc. To hear them complain, you'd think it was the downfall of society. If, given the choice, I'm sure the greeter at walmart would rather say, "F--- you. I'm 80 years old and have to work this crappy job to pay for my medicine. I hope your holiday sucks." than "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas" anyway.

Frankly I'm surprised pagans don't make a bigger stink of this. For centuries, Christians have been absconding with their Saturnalia winter celebration and claiming that the final day of the festival was Jesus Christ's birthday, despite there being absolutely no record of the man's actual birthdate. Apparently early Christians just wanted new converts.

Frankly I'm surprised pagans don't make a bigger stink of this. For centuries, Christians have been absconding with their Saturnalia winter celebration and claiming that the final day of the festival was Jesus Christ's birthday, despite there being absolutely no record of the man's actual birthdate. I'm believe whoever the Roman Emperor who chose Christianity for the official state religion installed holidays like Christmas on pagan holidays to help wean people from previous holidays to Christian holidays. There was no real Jesus birthdate but it fit nicely in that time of the year's existing festivities. I believe the Christmas tree also co opted some pagan ritual.
Many religions do similar things;the Muslims built mosques over or in Chritian churchs as part of their victories. After the moors were driven out I think there's a famous church that had been a fancy Muslim mosque in Spain.
Kwanza was invented by a radical black professor in the late 60's to come up with a "black " holiday which could compete with the "white" (in his view) Christmas holiday.

Im pretty sure the idea of the confessional (a man made idea btw) didnt occur until after his conversion. Like much later.

The only really negitives of pot that I see is that it can trigger psychosis and depression. Probably cancer too. Any smoke in the lungs is probably not good for you.

I look forward to the days of some hot 20 year old college girl approaching me at a bar in daisy dukes and a Smiths Pure Meth cut off tank top on, flirting with and offering me a few dollars worth of Smiths Pure Meth for free as long as she can take a picture of me, her, and my new Smiths Pure Meth for the Facebook page.

Such a scenario would never occur because we are not talking about a cool new beer or a nice new wine here. Nobody would advertise drugs publicly or make them sound "chic". I'm sure the gov. would make sure there is a law against that. Society as a whole looks down on drugs and everybody knows if you get addicted it will likely ruin your life anyway, so if they were to be "legalized" they'd remain mostly on the outside of the norm and under strict control of, perhaps, a clinic of some kind. One would never obtain a fresh bag of heroin in the supermarket, is what I'm saying. Legalization does not mean promotion, only de-criminalization.

And I say that because it sounds like you'd be worried that hard drugs would suddenly become the next cool thing. I don't see that happening at all.
