An Adams County man is in shock after he says deputies shot and killed his dog.

Jeff Fisher said deputies went to his house by mistake. He said when they opened the door his dog Ziggy ran outside and officers shot and killed him.

Fisher said Ziggy was his best friend and can’t believe he’s gone.

“(He went to the door) to see who it was and the police officer shot him three times,” Fisher said. “They killed my dog for no reason.”

Yeah, well, those vicious collie mixes will herd the hell outta you if you let them. Obviously, the cop wasn't going to let him.

Part of me wants to say I wish the cop's dog gets hit by a car, but then that's just one more dead dog that didn't do anything wrong. Perhaps I can pray to Shiva to give the cop terminal mouth herpes instead.

I doubt it. This is not in any way a measured, reasoned response to what happened in Connecticut. Nor is the new law intended to have any significant effect on preventing school shootings or other mass shootings. What happened in New York was nothing more than using the horror of Sandy Hook and the resulting public indignation as an excuse to ram through gun-control provisions that have been on the wish lists of anti-gun groups like the Brady Campaign and Violence Policy Center for years. As noted by Reason, the bill in New York was drafted by a group of legislative leaders and presented to the full Senate only minutes before the vote. It was rammed through on the first day of the legislative session and went from introduction to being signed into law in less than 24 hours. In fact, the passage of this law required a bypass of the New York Constitution, which normally requires no less than three calendar legislative days to pass between the introduction of a bill and its final passage (Article III, § 14). There’s an exception for emergencies when “the governor … shall have certified, under his or her hand and the seal of the state, the facts which in his or her opinion necessitate an immediate vote thereon….” Cuomo said that this bill needed to pass in mere hours because:

Some weapons are so dangerous, and some ammunition devices so lethal, that New York State must act without delay to prohibit their continued sale and possession in the state in order to protect its children, first responders and citizens as soon as possible.

This is nothing more than anti-gun legislators using Sandy Hook as an excuse to pass a law that they knew would not have support but for the public still being in a state of outrage over a tragic event. It was pure exploitation.

Just looked at my first paycheck of the new year an wanted thank our President for the pay cut today. No tax increases on middle class didn't even last long enough to be inaugurated for a second term.

I think this thread tends to go liberal/conservative based on current political happenings. Hell, I have even taken a relatively liberal tack at times. The irrational grandstanding going on right now strikes a chord with a lot of people that wouldn't otherwise be politically minded, IMO.
