BAMAKO, Mali (AP) — French troops pressed northward in Mali toward territory occupied by radical Islamists on Wednesday, military officials said, announcing the start of a land assault that will put soldiers in direct combat "within hours."

French ground operations began overnight in Mali, Adm. Edouard Guillaud, the French military chief of staff, said on Europe 1 television. France's Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on RTL radio that soldiers were headed away from the relative safety of the capital toward the rebel strongholds in the north.

It is very sympathetic to the Davidians and probably moreso to Koresh than he deserved, but it shows just how far the ATF and then the FBI overreached, lied, and trampled on civil liberties. It also shows how grossly incompetent and negligent the agency is.

Nat Geo has a pretty good series called the Final Report that looked into Waco as well and drew many of the same conclusions.

Just looked at my first paycheck of the new year an wanted thank our President for the pay cut today. No tax increases on middle class didn't even last long enough to be inaugurated for a second term.

What short memories people have. The GOP House was against extending the payroll tax holiday to 2012 but it made it through eventually and neither the Democrats or the GOP had plans to extend it in 2013.

Make everything about being for the safety of children and society succumbs. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, but either way its a ploy.
