To add to my last post, another one of the disturbing things to come out of the GWOT, is how JSOC is for all intents and purposes little more than the president's private, unaccountable army. Which is another new characteristic of our government which has little positive historical precedence.

Plus at least 42 other women who don't happen to be foreign reporters.

Thinking ahead to 2016....can the Republicans put up a candidate who will:

1. Cut military spending
2. Mind our own business foreign policy wise
3. Reduce taxes
4. Leave the Bible at home and stop hiding behind states rights rhetoric, in order to push a religious agenda

My guess is "no" and I'll have to go with my past plan of voting for a Democrat, voting 3rd party or staying home.

If it was a choice between Rand Paul and Hillary to accomplish those points, it may not be Rand, but it sure as hell ain't gonna be Hillary (esp with regards to your first three points).

#4 is a deal breaker for me.

I won't vote for any candidate who is hostile to 56% of the population, re: reproductive rights and/or sexual orientation.

I don't think he's hostile towards gays. Pretty sure he came out in favor of SCOTUS' ruling, for example.

We can't keep voting on single issues, especially abortion. Sending it down to the states would enhance our national dialogue tremendously, IMO. We elect crooks and sociopaths so long as they share our view on one issue. It's insane.

Yeah, he's a geat supporter of individual freedom.

“It is difficult, because if we have no laws on this, people will take it to one extension further – does it have to be humans?” Paul said Wednesday in an interview with Glenn Beck, after Beck suggested some unintended consequences of the rulings, including polygamy.

Besides, the leave it tot the states thing - just like his father - is the cowards way out.

Yeah, I'm not going to stump for him like I would his father. Though he's been on the right side of a few things, especially as it pertains to drones and privacy, he does tend to equivocate quite a bit.

No one has done #4 in a long time from my perspective at least in the general, Huckabee might be the closest in regards to religion. But the answer in general is no, but that goes for the Democrat nominee too.

I'm done with major parties, they all suck, just some are worse than others.

Hardly.

Since the start of the Egyptian Revolution in 2011, the protesters have been misrepresented as such. It is difficult for me to celebrate the end of any dictator's regime over there, because it will only be replaced by a violent, conservative theocracy.

If that is a reference to painting with a broad brush, it's really not true. Polls have consistently shown a majority of Egyptian citizens favor Sharia law, the ending of peace with Israel, etc.

The problem with toppling dictators in the M.E. is that the vacuum is usually filled by something notably worse.

Thankfully, most Americans (and other Westerners, for that matter) seem to be in agreement on that count:
