They've given it to less deserving candidates before.

Assad is already taking advantage of the Putin/Kerry monkey wrench. For the first time since the talk of America military action began, today Syria resumed its bombing attacks against the rebels.

This made me chuckle in a bitter sort of way.

Read this post from an acquaintance on FB today:

tomorrow prepare for the largest statist holiday of the year. Surpassed in statist overtones perhaps only by north korean regime

Thoughts?

Only someone who wasn't there and doesn't understand the impact of the event would respond that way.

Or perhaps someone who has grown tired of the chest-thumping false patriotism and chants of U-S-A! that blithely led us to a war under false pretenses that preyed on that very same overblown sense of national righteousness?

It seems to me that you are constantly tripping over yourself defending just about everything he does, whether it's widespread domestic surveillance, bombing Syria, etc. You don't strike me as a very consistent liberal :pop:

Never defended widespread domestic surveillance, only keeping a database of calls made.

I'm not a fan of patriotism porn, but this person obviously has a broader axe to grind.

I love the comments section on articles linked from Drudge. I found an article about a possible bright comet in January, and there were hundreds of comments about Obama. I'm sure it's similar on a more liberal news aggregator, but who knows. Still funny.

Obama painted himself in a corner with his saber rattling and erased red line. Putin gave him a face saving out with their/Kerry's proposal. In return Russia gets what it wants; Assad stays in power; Russia,Hezbollah and Iran heve their client state and there's a dragged out phony giving up of chemical weapons. The issue fades out of the public's attention and Barry moves back to his even-greater-society agenda of bankrupting the country. Nancy Pelosi was already celebrating what a great victory this is for Obama.
Reminicent of Catch 22 when a couple generals were going to court martial someone for a royal screw up but decided to give him a medal and declare him a hero instead to make themselves look better.

I'm not so sure of that. I think the blind hatred of Obama by the right far surpasses the blind hatred of any GOP'er (even Bush) from the left. Was there hatred for Bush? Sure but no where as ridiculous as for Obama. Even for Clinton it was way more so with a sitting House member recreating Vince Foster's death by shooting at a pumpkin.

Did you read the article? I'm aware of Noonan's past, but she always struck me as a bit more intelligent than a lot of other commentators with conservative pasts.

Edit: To add, Noonan heaped a fair amount of praise on the POTUS during the first half of his first term. So I'm not sure what you are getting at here.

Peggy Noonan is on my list of people I'm not listening to no matter what and even in the event I'd agree with them on some discrete issue. Friedman is number one on that list. David Brooks is on it as well. I'm just not going to consume their output under any circumstances.
