Ali Baba's and Salem's (in North Oakland).

Aren't those both in North Oakland? I have to be able to get said falafel downtown.

It's better than most fast food, but not good relative to the genre.

kenny the kangaroo would not go out of the way to get to a pita pit...but if there was one within a convenient distance to work, it would probably be in the rotation of places to regularly get lunch. does that make any sense

Can be. Its in Market Square. Its not a thai restaurant (they do all things noodles), so I'm not sure what to expect out of the pad thai, but I have been told that it is at least adequate if not good.

I agree with this. It's like Subway, but on a pita, and it tastes a little better.

Sharp Edge food is not close to worth the price. The service there (downtown) has gone downhill big time too. The chicken bites are typically very good happy hour fare, though. Don't get the honey garlic, though.

I like their pizza, though it is pricey. I am still pissed at them for exchanging their Hopdevil Soup for bland potatoes and cheese in a bowl.

That said, the reason you go to Sharpedge is for the beer anyway.

Tried Pita Pit. Avoided the falafel and went with a chicken sandwich and enjoyed it.

He asked for 'good' pad thai. Theirs is not even really pad thai.

Lemongrass Cafe; some of the best around. There is also an Indian place across from the one on 6th that is very good for an alternative.

re: pad thai. i went to a place in media, pa that did french/thai and enjoyed it more than i remembered from a few years back. I do have a real disdain for peanut sauce which really hampers my thai experience, but curry more than makes up for it.
