I agree, parts of that made me really angry at Dexter.

For as careful as he is, he's doing his damndest to dig himself a hole he can't get out of. Also he's a crap parent.

The end of it was very sad.

I liked the "Goodbye Rita Bennett" "Goodbye Dexter Morgan" thing, it gave everyone a chance to say goodbye. Also I liked that Dexter finally admitted he loved Rita.

Yeah, the end was a bit of a release in terms of built of frustration towards Dexter throughout the episode. But that's the brilliance of the show, IMO. Even after 4 seasons of mostly the same character, we suddenly want (and expect) him to be someone else.

i kind of disagree. this episode kind of implied that the only reason that she fell in love with dexter was because he didn't care that her life was a complete mess. He did absolutely nothing else to gain her affection on their first date. he was aloof, he ignored her the entire time, and he left early with a flimsy excuse. Rita was really painted as someone who needs a man in her life to validate her identity as a woman, and with so many red flags around her, she latched on to the first man who wasn't scared away.

i'm not saying she was respectable, just more compelling than the dolled up, hollywood, inexplicably confident version in seasons 3 and 4.

Watched the last episode of last season and the first episode of this season on Sunday. good episodes, I just hate that I missed most of the first three seasons.

thank god Rita is dead. season 4 of Dexter was AMAZING. seasons 2 and 3 really were nothing special, especially season 3. this season should be really interesting especially with Rita as many of the storylines involving her were worthless.

A lot of these nostalgia scenes with Dexter/Rita have been confusing me. During the course of the first 4 seasons, I never found that an especially romantic relationship blossomed between the two. I don't find their playing the 'lost love' card very affective, but judging by the popularity of this season, maybe it's just me!

I really enjoyed this week's episode.

The Dexter vs Boyd plot was great. It would have been interesting to see those 2 go at it for a few more episodes.

There is something creepy about thew new nanny. Watch her be the sister of Arthur Mitchell or something.

I really hope that Quinnn gets his soon. While he is no Doakes, he deserves to end up in a kill room with how obsessed he is with Dexter.

I wonder how Dexter is going to deal with finding Julia Stiles in the closet. If he kills her, its against the code. But he may have no choice.

Season's been great to this point..

Wished they would've kept Boyd alive for another episode or 2. Very creepy character.

Definitely getting the heebies from the nanny. 'If somethings appears too good to be true...'

Wonder if it'll be Dexter 'saving the last dance' for Ms. Stiles. ba-dum bum.

Never thought of the chick cop being involved. Will have to think about that one.

Am I the only one that's glad that the kids are with the grandparents now? Hopefully, they stay there.

I actually like Quinn's character. Doakes was awesome (and entertaining), but not very believable.

All in all, a good start to the new season. Can't wait to see what happens with mystery girl.
