Just curious, how many people are you inviting? If you put one on each table, you'll need 100?

Weddings = legalized extortion. And this is coming from someone who had one herself.

Each centerpiece consists of 3 mason jars tied together, approx 225 people, so figure 8 per table = 30 tables, plus a few centerpieces for other tables

I love how in America everyone is all like, "ZOMG, IT'S 12/12/12" and then the rest of the world is like, "Stupid Americans, it's 12/12/12"

I spent something similar years ago on one of the Norelco wet shavers. It was the one that had a dispenser button for Nivea shaving gel. I bought a whole case of the gel packs to go with it. The shaver completely croaked after maybe six months, and to be honest the quality of the shaves was never all that great. I ended up throwing out something like 100 packs of shaving goo.

I think I’m on the record around here as to my belief that a good ol’ double-edge safety razor is the way to go. I have more than a half dozen in my rotation (admittedly, I passed from user to collector a while ago). Great shaves and I can buy a pack of 100 blades for less than $30. If I use a blade a week, that’s almost two years.

Got my first flu shot in like 20 years today. We have an on site wellness center now at work, so I decided to just get one. It was free.

I regularly buy stuff from:

http://www.classicshaving.com

http://www.westcoastshaving.com

In terms of razors, the Classic Shaving “Favorite” is a nice razor, and easy to use and clean. I’d recommend it for a first razor. I also really like my vintage Gillette Super Speed razor. You can easily find examples on Ebay in good shape for not too much money. For blades, I’ve been using the Personna “Medical Prep” blades from West Coast Shaving, and I really like them. They’re $32 for a pack of 100. Sure, there are cheaper blades on there, but I think the Personna preps are at the sweet spot of price and quality. Because blades can be somewhat of a your-mileage-may-vary issue, West Coast sells sampler packs so that you can try out multiple brands.

There’s a little bit of a learning curve to using a safety razor. Their heads don’t pivot, for example, so you have to actively control the angle of the razor yourself. They also tend to cut more severely if you screw up. But I’ve been using them for years and have become accustomed to them. I think I get shaves that are every bit as good as I did back when I used a Gillette Mach 3, and the cost is way less. The blades are so cheap that you can change them regularly, and sharp blades give better shaves.

For pens or for ink? I haven’t bought any pens in a while. I use Lamy Al-Star pens, which are fairly cheap. For ink, I like Noodler’s ink (http://noodlersink.com/), which one can buy from Goulet Pen Company (http://www.gouletpens.com/). Goulet also has a great selection of pens.
