New Television Season so Far

Postby RxBandit66 on Sat Nov 07, 2009 8:19 am

Three points to make here, then, I'mma let you guys finish:

1) CSI Las Vegas is back to prominence after several seasons of futility. The emergence of Nick Stokes as the star of the show, the return of Sara Sidle, and the (thankful) exit of Riley Adams from the show has made all the difference. How do these writers keep coming up with all these ideas? Amazing.

2) Curb Your Enthusiasm: Major, major disappointment. Only one episode ("Vehicular Fellatio") has been funny, and the re-appearance of the "Seinfeld" cast has been poorly executed.

3) 24 - This new season has not started yet.....but where are they going to go with this one? Will there be another movie? I hope so. "24 Redemption" was unreal.

The shows I watch on a regular basis:

How I Met Your Mother - I am starting to see a little decline. The first 4 seasons were absolutely awesome, but this season hasn't been that great IMO. Marshall is WAY too whipped and gay now, the Barney and Robin story line is already getting old and boring. Ted's hasn't been to bad yet. I personally think the same thing is happening to this show that happened to Friends. THe actors are OVERPLAYING their characters now, and the "in the circle" relationship (ie. Monica and Chandler) and now Barney and Robin just doesn't work too well IMO.

Big Bang Theory - Love the show. Think it keeps getting better and better

The Office - Some episodes are absolutely marvelous, some are just ok. Same thing is happening to it that happened to How I Met Your MOther. Still love it though.

30 Rock - Some episodes suck, but so far I've enjoyed the season and still love the show.

The Simpsons - Has gotten a little better, but still a shell of it's former glory years (seasons 2-9). I still watch though because I have been doing it for 20 years.

Modern Family - I'm enjoying this show very much. And the two moms on this show are HOT!

Shows that dropped off my list that I may catch if bored:

Two and Half Men - It's the same week after week. I got bored with it. Will only catch every once in a while.

The only two new shows I watch are community and bored to death. I don't count curb as new cuz they were just taking a break but it has been getting better. I LOVE community that show kills me every time, and i don't usually hear people talking about it which is weird cuz I think it's awesome. Bored to death has been getting better every week and I'm sad this is the last episode coming up :(

I think Curb has been great so far this year, the episodes with the Seinfeld cast have been the worst ones of the season and luckily there have only been a couple. The Swan episode, the Wendy Wheelchair episode, and Vehicular Fellatio have been classic. It's definitely a different season from years past, but I'm not complaining one bit.

Modern Family is probably my favorite new show this year, it's been consistently funny and the family is actually believable so thats a plus compared to other family sitcoms.

Mad Men start a little slow like always, but has really picked it up and it's become a really intense season.

I don't understand how you can say this season of Curb has been awful. I've been watching since the start and this is one of the best seasons. I thought last week's, which was this season's weakest, was still great.

Bored to Death is an interesting show...at no point did I ever dislike the show, but I didn't start off liking it. I wanted to like it, but something wasn't clicking. It's gotten a lot better though, and I think it's because Galifinakis and Danson are getting more screen time.

Most of the CSI and Criminal Minds show plots are based (loosely) on true stories. As long as people keep coming up with weird and sick ways of killing each other, there will be new stuff.

Community, Dollhouse, and Castle have been good. Only three shows I make sure I catch every week. I've seen all of the Offices except for the most recent one, but i'm beginning to tire of the show.

Modern Family is easily the best new show and is becoming my favorite. The Office has fallen a little bit, but I still like it. Community is okay. I really like Parks and Rec this year. It wasn't good last year but has gotten better. 30 Rock is still solid. NCIS is very good... have been watching NCIS LA, but not sure if that will continue.

New season of Dexter, as expected, is starting to get intense. This show has utterly incredible writers.

While it's not "TV" in the traditional sense, this season of the webseries "The Guild" has been top-notch.

I was the same way...though, I've heard Community has gotten a lot better and it's not just "how many pop culture reference jokes can we make in thirty minutes" anymore.

Okay I'll admit, Curb was outstanding last night. It really shut me up.

And I must say....Dollhouse is an amazing show (okay, Dollhouse is a decent show plus Eliza Dushku is amazingly hot, so that qualifies).
