So....... what's everyone expecting this afternoon? For the first 70 minutes of their quarterfinal match, Brazil looked pretty good. Meanwhile, I felt Germany was ho-hum against France.

Even tho I've rooting for a Brazil - Argentina final all along, I honestly didn't think the Seleção would advance past Colombia. If they play 90 minutes like they played the first 70 against Colombia, I think they can win.

I think its going to be a relatively dour game today.

Whatever happens, so long as the eventual champion is ARG or NED, I am ok with it.

Brazil is without Thiago Silva, their beast of a defenseman. Also without Neymar, which the offense seemed to be centering around. However, Germany's not looked that great, but I do think they can play the possession game that will frustrate Brazil.

I want to predict a boring, possession-heavy game by the Germans resulting in a 1-0 or 2-1 game. But I also think Brazil could score early & blow the game wide open.

If Argentina would win the world cup in Brazil... man, that'd be something.

Brazil is more or less sh*t without Neymar and Robben is sh*t, period. 2-1 wins for Germany and Argentina. Messi all the way.

I decided against committing to save to go to this world cup about 7 years ago...if Argentina ends up beating Brazil in Brazil, I will consider not doing that my biggest regret of my life.

I'm predicting penos today and you know what that means...Germany will win. (Horrible at predictions though so Brazil will probably win 2-nil.)

Brazil just doesn't lose at home. Germany's the better team, they've got a higher ceiling, and they've been more consistent but FIFA wants Brazil in the finals.

My primary prediction is Thomas Muller scoring with his calf or ear, or some other unconventional body part.

Brazil through on penalties 1(4)-1(3)

With Neymar and Silva out, I think Germany is clearly the better team (unless Brazil has been hiding some unknown prodigy on their bench who will light it up in Neymar's absence). Neymar was their only consistent attacking threat, and Silva was their only consistent defender. I'd say Germany by 2, but I think the home field advantage keeps it close...so maybe Germany in PKs after having a clear advantage in the run of play throughout?

I like this roster for Germany a lot more than their earlier ones. No more Mertesacker; instead, Hummels & Boateng at back, with Howedes (bleh) & Lahm. Schweinsteiger & Klose both starting as well.

The formation seems to have a much better shape, with a quicker defense (taking out Mertesacker = Speed bonus no matter who comes in) that will work better against Brazil... hypothetically.

-- Edit: This Brazilian crowd is going to get Montreal Canadians-esque annoying in their attempt to sway the ref.
