Loved me some non-Chelsea Jimmy Floyd.

How the hell did Eidur Gudjohnsen ever play for Barca? Remember when him and Alan Smith were essentially converted into defensive midfielders...crazy.

Bergkamp and Gio (of course), Cocu, the De Boer brothers, Seedorf, Roy Makaay, Reiziger, etc. etc. So many good players over the years.

I really loved that mid-90s Ajax team, which was basically the core of the Dutch team too. I'm sad the financial side of the game has changed to such an extent that we'll likely never see Ajax as a real CL contender again (unless some sheik buys them).

Given how much I like Barcelona and their 'tiki-taka' play, I think I would have been a big Dutch supporter if I had been into the sport growing up. Watching some of their stuff on YouTube is mesmerizing.

Looks like the weather really scared people away from the AC Milan / Man City game at Pitt. The numbers were apparently 30,000 & closer to 40k; it looks like there's only 10-15k there at the moment.

Pitt currently has a tornado watch anyway, with the thunderstorm coming in 30 minutes or so.

I'm here with my son, it filled in pretty well in the lower level and east upper deck. They didn't sell the west. It is a Pitt vs Syracuse type crowd.

As might be expected, City is eating AC Milan's lunch, 4-0 in the 26th minute. Expect mass exodus when the weather turns really bad but I will not be able to get my kid out of here till the final whistle.

I'm here with some friends. We were in the upper end zone deck and moved to the cover that they didn't sell tickets for. Looks like it's clearing up a little, from where the storm came

They cleared us out of the stands, sky seems brighter. Mrs. PghSkins said it was brutal back home so hopefully it keeps north.

Looks to be clearing...

That was embarrassing. Even by meaningless friendly standards the first half was shockingly bad. Agazzi, yikes. Constant, yikes. The entire back line, yikes.

Agazzi should have to swim back to Italy. What an embarrassing performance.

Is there another player who has consistently missed so badly as Torres has? I just feel bad for him anymore.

Announced attendance yesterday was 34k. Seems about correct, it was a little more than half full. Not sure how that matches up with expectations.

Yeah, Arsenal seems like they might be a real contender. I think they still need a d-mid who is more of a destroyer than Arteta or Flamini and maybe back-up options in central defense and forward (although keeping Campbell around might solve the latter issue). What's up with the rumored Khedira move? He seems like exactly what they need, but that seems to have sputtered out.

Also, I feel bad for Southampton...a couple seasons of entertaining, reasonably successful play and they're just completely pillaged. They might be in the relegation battle this year unless they bring in some serious help.

Yeah d-mid is the definite need, I think. Arteta has gotten better there, but yeah, need a natural destroyer type, as you said. Khedira would be amazing. Last I read the wages seemed to be the issue as the rumored fee seems pretty low based upon his contract. The other names out there were Schneiderlin and Bender, I think.

I assume Rodriguez will move from Southampton before the window closes too. Sure seems like they will struggle this year. I really like James Ward-Prowse, who should be a regular now, but yeah, they've been gutted.

Speaking of Arsenal, it looks like Carl Jenkinson is going to West Ham. Solidifies us at RB and gives him a chance to develop a bit more for Arsenal. Sort of a make or break loan situation. Should be announced today.

West Ham had a great defense last year. They've added the best left back in the Championship last year, Aaron Cresswell, who has already started providing better opportunities for Matt Jarvis, and now Jenkinson comes in to make things even better.
