I had no idea Cech was only 32. For some reason, I thought he was closer to 40. He should have another 5-6 years of top-level play left. It will be interesting to see where he goes.

Was Everton on NBCSN Saturday because of Tim Howard? Seems like an odd choice in opponants but then again I've never payed attention to EPL until this year. Do like that all the games are on the NBCSN app.

Eh, the match options for that 10:00 slot were not very good. It would be the Everton game or the Tottenham game. I guess Howard's presence could have been the tiebreaker, but I wasn't too surprised about that game being on after I realized what the other options were.

I hate that Verizon does not air any of the other games on TV. I believe every single game is available on TV (not just the app) in the Pittsburgh area for Comcast subscribers.

I thought West Ham v Spurs was a much more "glamorous" matchup due to it being a derby. That was the 10:00 game I was expecting to be televised.

I'm not sure. I think Verizon is the only provider that has areas that do not get all of the overflow games, but it may be true everywhere. I do seem to recall reading last year at some point when I was fuming about this that Comcast offered it to all subscribers with package x.

I have DirecTV and every game is available on my TV. They have a set of overflow channels in the upper areas where every game is

Really??? I thought they had a premium package like Sunday Ticket or Center Ice for the EPL.

I normally follow La Liga, but if I can get every single EPL game as part of my regular programming..........

The 2022 Qatar World Cup continues to be a disastrous exercise for the world's most beautiful game. In addition to the deadly slave labor and oppressive heat, a CNN article from Monday points out that the city expected to host the final, Lusail, still needs to be built:

Some 20,000 workers — a small city unto itself — are building Lusail at an estimated cost of $45 billion. Developers hope to complete the city by 2019, three years before Qatar is scheduled to become the first Arab country to host the World Cup.

I feel bad for Balotelli. He probably has to deal with more crap than any other player in soccer.

I don't think this is true? While Comcast folk have every game available online, the only ones on TV are the ones on NBC / NBCSN unless the company decides to go crazy & broadcast them on all of the different channels, including MSNBC & such. At least, it's not this way south of the city, and also not that way when I had Comcast in the city.

Here is the link that shows what games are on this weekend. As of now, only the 7:30 (Newcastle v. Aston Villa) & the Chelsea v. Leicester at 9:45 are on TV on Saturday. The other 10:00 games are online and available there, but are not on TV, as far as I know.

That sucks that they aren't available on TV. I'd be buying a Chromecast if this were the case for me. Thank goodness for DirecTV

Barça's 14-month transfer ban upheld on appeal.

This punishment was announced back in April while Mrs Tif and I were in Barcelona. It was the lead story on the nightly news each of the five nights were in town after.

He probably has it easy compared to other, less prominent black players in lower leagues.

A great many things in Italy are deserving of one's sympathy, such as attitudes toward women or the apparent legality of double jeopardy, but Mario Balotteli is absolutely not one of them.

I think Balotelli to Liverpool is likely to happen.

I'm somewhat torn. On the one hand, he's the most talented player we have. On the other, I doubt he's ever going to reach his full potential. The experience this summer with the national team soured everyone on him, even his biggest supporters.

I think they can wrench 25mm GBP out of Liverpool; supposedly Pool is around 18 at present.

I probably would be hard pressed to sell for less than 30, but they need the cash.
