Wenger would never resign. It's gonna be like when you have to put a relative in a nursing home who doesn't want to leave their house. He's gonna show up at the training ground the day after he gets fired.

My take on Wenger is he is loathe to spend money because it will undermine the legacy he has created for himself at Arsenal as a genius in uncovering bargains and developing them into top players.

Maybe he would like to spend money but isn't allowed to?

Wenger hired Gazidis and Dick Law. I doubt they overrule Wenger. Gazidis said back in June that we had 70 mil GBP in the bank to buy players. Since then we have sold players to the tune of about 10 mil GBP. This is money earmarked for transfers and part of the "self-sustaing model" so I doubt Kroenke is telling Wenger not to buy.

Wenger has been burned by big money signings in the past (Jeffers, Reyes, Arshavin). The problem Wenger has now is that he is undermining his legacy by not unearthing the unknown gems and not signing anyone just in general. We currently have 13 fit senior players if you include Flamini, it really is absolutely insane. The summer is amazingly frustrating. havearsenalspentanymoneyyet.com (actual website)

Even the big buys you mentioned are only big buys by Arsenal standards. Wenger definitely has money to spend. If you look at the player sales of the the past 5-6 years, Arsenal have banked some ridiculous deals.

Boateng to Schalke from Milan for 12mm Euro. Honda deal should close now, though anything more than a few mm would be overpayment given he's free in Jan. OR COULD IT BE KAKA

Would I do it were I were the Director of Football? No. Would I do it were I Director of Merchandising? Yes. Would I do it if I am being a nostalgic fan? Yes.

But no, I don't have any real illusions that he can re-capture his dominating form.

I would rather have the original El Nino than the current one. You know the warm water from the Pacific or whatever it was. Torres is so awful at this point its best he just goes back to Spain.

Man U with a 12mm Euro bid for De Rossi which the club has accepted. He's apparently reluctant to move.

Interesting, that would be a big blow to AS Roma.

Right, you definitely have to use a caveat when talking about big buys and Arsenal.

An English journo who covers Eastern Europe tweeted the other day that Liverpool has serious interest in Yarmolenko, so take that for what it's worth. Not sure why Sakho is surplus to requirements at PSG, good signing if it comes off.

Supposedly Sahko told PSG that wouldn't sign a new contract with them, so they needed to cash in.

Just read on Twitter that he is on his way to Melwood for a medical

I thought the loss to Cardiff was a fluke, but Hull is playing City pretty tough as well (even though City's up 1-0). Is City just not that good or do they need more time to build chemistry?
