Apparently it's legitimate. He just tweeted from the X Morning Show's twitter account:

"i cant take personal battles to the airwaves anymore.it puts others at risk. those things have to be separate."

"if i can figure out a way to do that.i'll be back. if i cant, i've enjoyed my time on the x more than y'all can ever imagine. bell well -tb"


I didn't hear it, but a friend of mine heard most of it, didn't realize it was legitimate until about halfway through. Word is it may have been centered around something on Facebook that escalated and he said he put people's jobs at risk. I guess it got pretty emotional. His co-host Bob McLaughlin seemed to have no idea it was coming, either. And they were doing it as a remote broadcast from Nemacolin, too, so who knows.

The whole thing was weird. It went from him talking to meeting people that passed him after last night's game to not enjoying what he does to putting people at risk. Still doesn't make any sense. Guess I'd have to see the Facebook posts, if those had anything to do with it.

As far as people on twitter basically rejoicing, what should he expect? Dude has basically acted like a ****heel to his audience for the better part of a decade. I'm not saying there isn't a part of the audience that didn't deserve it, but it seemed like he did it more often than not especially in the last year or so. To me, he's arrogant and not really likeable. Which probably leads to "well if you don't like him, why don't you listen?" I was a rare day away from my desk today helping the rest of the dept with user relocations (basically all hands on deck for IT since it involved moving our gear) and they had the X in the background since nobody else was in the office.

If you have a FaceBook account look up Pittsburgh Tactical Firearms. That's the LGS that gave away an AR15 with 10 mags and 1000 rounds.

Summarized:
Benz made a comment (on 105.9 the X's FB page) on how this kind of 'protest' doesn't add anything good to the 'gun debate'. And a few other seemingly negative comments basically confirming he's an anti such why do think propel should own "assault rifles"? Etc...

He took a bunch of [stuff] from listeners, basically stating that 105.9 just lost their business from Benz's anti-gun opinions.

Somewhere in the commenting Benz said something along the lines of(keep in mind these aren't direct quotes) "I don't need you listeners..." and something along the lines of "....I hope a drone strikes your house and kills you" Of course these comments have since then disappeared, although there are people who have screen shots of the exchange.

The former fans considered this a terroristic threat and reported his comments to the FCC.

And now I'm hearing he's "resigning".....


That's a basic summary of my understanding of the situation from FaceBook.
