Mueller was completely unbearable during the game tonight with his Tweets.

If they had me do Jay's Telestration, I would just bring up a pic of the scoreboard and circle both scores.

The Pens scored 3 goals that period. The isles did not score. #Analysis

Really, the first period was even. Because it's 0-0. #Analysis

You know he's doing that for total satire right? He's not being a ****** at all. He constantly asked question regarding hockey with Jesse Marshall because he knows he sucks at knowing the sport compared to Basketball. He's just poking fun at himself.

Really comes off in the wrong way though.

I'm sure his regulars know that he's joking and having fun with it, but he does kinda sound like an a-hole saying it.

I'm glad someone brought it up and I didn't have to. He doesn't like hockey, he likes the NBA. We get it. Even Josh Miller who has no journalism experience or broadcast background made an attempt to learn hockey for his job. Mueller should maybe stick to posting twitter pics of his 15 step process of making dinner.

He can like it all he wants, but I just can't believe he gets away with not knowing a thing about hockey in this town with the job he has. (INB4 all other media in this town doesn't know a thing about hockey) but Muellers been doing this all series. It wasn't funny even one time. No wonder their ratings are atrocious.

It's not even about not liking the NBA. Two things to consider about this:

a) it's not even about Mueller's love for the NBA. It's about talking about a sport with zero local presence during a time where the #2 sports team in this town is in the middle of a playoff run where they are either considered the conference favorite or even Cup favorite. People would be dropping dead in the streets if he pulled this act during the weekend of a Steelers' Wild Card game. At best, there is maybe 1 or 2 players in the NBA with somewhat of a connection in Pittsburgh: one dude in San Antonio (if he's still even there) and there's a second player in Charlotte or Toronto, if he's still in the league. Without listening to a second of Mueller since the playoffs - that's both NBA and NHL have started, I can tell you that he is not giving either of these players coverage.

b) the act of "look at me, I know nothing about the NHL so I'm gonna mock it" just looks bad, especially when your stations advertises "Pirates, Penguins, Steelers....on 93.7 The Fan Pittsburgh" multiple times an hour. As DudeMan said, even the people that don't know hockey like Josh Miller made an effort to at least learn about the game. Even Vinnie, who might be the second-worst person on the station to ask a question about the Penguins, has at least tried to follow the game.

Agreed JS. To answer you question the dude from San Antonio (DuJuan Blair) is still there, hes a bench player and Aaron Gray plays for Toronto.

Nothing. People are just hypersensitive to someone who doesn't have the NHL as their first sport.

He didnt act like this months ago. He really has been super obnoxious (on twitter at least, I've barely listened to them in the past few months) since the playoffs started. He actually had a chance to not blend in with the jack wagons that make up sports media in this town but he's blowing it. It's one thing to do "satire" like he was last night, but he was pulling this crap after the 2 losses as well. It's not even funny to begin with, but that'll get people to sour on u real quick.

If Mueller tried to talk Steelers during this Cup run, I would understand it since the Steelers are the top game in town. Even in the offseason, the local hosts will always find time to talk NFL, which is something I don't see ever changing. Even if he sidetracked to a Pirates game, it would make sense. But a local team in playoff run is slightly more important a league with no local presence.

I even understand the argument that there are other sports like nascar, futbol, etc that aren't played in Pittsburgh that plenty of people care about. Like the NBA, those sports are rarely talked about on the local sports talk stations.

Why is Pens Radio playing a replay of Game 4 instead of 5?

Benz and McLaughlin are getting worse and worse on the radio in terms of Pens talk. Today was an obnoxious attitude about "Young Pens fans, you need to go on YouTube and do a little history lesson and start searching Game 7's and the Islanders/Penguins and educate yourself." Shut up.
