Bob Friend is auctioning off some of his 1960 championship gear. He was also a guest on the Cook & Poni show. Either the 2nd or 3rd question Poni asks a 83 year old man what he thinks of gay players in the nba and nfl. :face:

In the first 15 minutes of the Mueller/Starkey show today Mueller brought up the 4 point shot idea that the NBA announced today. Turned it off in disgust. He just constantly brings up the nba and Starkey loves NBA ball too so they're a bad partnership at times but Starkey is head and shoulders better than Mueller.

Here's their conceptual problem with talking about the NBA:

Tune in a sorts radio station in Philly or NYC and they do occasionally talk about the NBA, throughout the season. However, they only ever talk about the local teams.
Without that angle in Pittsburgh, it's hard to sustain a conversation.

The NBA - in Pittsburgh - is best left to the syndicated radio programs, where they usually bring in an "expert" to talk about the league. Or to put it another way, does anyone really care from Jimmy from Brookline has to say about the Clippers?

lol that's the best description of him you will find. Speaking of that dumb show, whats the deal with the Afternoon Power Rankings they post every day? Is there ever like a category, or do they just name 5 random things? Its usually like,

AFTERNOON PR IS UP FOLKS!!!
1) Jr Bacon Cheeseburgers
2) Blue ear buds
3) Merging on the interstate
4) Gum
5) New socks

Is there any rhyme or reason to this that I miss?

Mueller started that on the 10pm-2am show. It's literally anything they want to rank. No rhyme or reason.

It was a week and a half ago, let it the frig go. He's still retweeting people who have anything remotely nice to say about the organizing. Okay we get it.

How did that narrative/story end up? Did anyone notice there was virtually no #SochiFail content once the Games began?

The Games really were well run. Describing how they go, for better or worse, is a big part of the coverage of any Olympics, especially in the eye of news editors. When you're the only representative for an outlet there, you can't just do the sports. Have to do the whole thing. I did try to keep all the stuff separate, especially from the heavy politics and social issues involved.

Also, the count on RTs of people who had something positive to say about it was exactly three: Teemu, Pierre LeBrun and one other I can't recall at the moment.

Thanks for reading so closely, and I say that being totally serious. It's much appreciated.

Nope. Not once. A Wall Street Journal reporter told me he was doing a blog entry on the secret Starbucks. He asked me three questions. I gave him honest answers. He printed them.

Never once wrote about it in the Trib or talked about it on WPXI or TribLIVE Radio.

Couple of fun tweets. No rants.

Wrote again and again that I enjoyed the overall experience and consider myself outrageously lucky and blessed to have the opportunity to cover something like the Olympics.

From what i understand, Chris Mueller, Dejan, Madden, Rossi, Yohe and all the rest are great guys.

A lot of anger in this topic.

That happens. That's part of the job, especially as it relates to social media where no one has a name or face and feels like they can say anything without consequence. Mostly because, you know, they can. Accepted that a long time ago.

Guys like Yohe/Molinari to me just do their job, they don't really have a gimmick and I have zero problem with those guys.
Rossi is a complete tool. He can be the most knowledgeable man in hockey and I still wouldn't take him seriously wearing scarves, a soul patch, and Dwayne Wade's glasses to report on hockey.
Dejan is such, such a baby at times. And its getting more frequent.
Mueller's just as described in the last page or so of this thread. I have no problem listening to him on the radio, but he lost a lot of fans with the way he acts on twitter. I mean what purpose did it serve to drive home the notion that you are rooting for Russia this week? Esp when he immediately admitted he just wanted to see who took the bait. Being obnoxious for the sake of being obnoxious is something that a lot of people grow out of freshman year of highschool. With all this tweets about his gf and photos of food he's cooking you'd think he'd have better things to do than be the weakest troll on the internet.

Sorry you feel that way. I do appreciate that you're reading/listening, assuming you are to have formed that opinion. Not everyone can like everyone.
