I got hooked on Moonshiners even though I'm pretty sure it's fake.

It's definitely fake. That said, Tickle and Jim Tom are both damn amusing.

TIL that my coworker's former son in law is on that show: some dude named Bill.
She says that he is a lot of things, but that he is not a moonshiner.

I've been enjoying community quite a bit this year

They rely on gimmick episodes because the writing is spotty and the characters are extremely superficial. I won't miss it when it's gone.

some of them are pretty horrible (claymation episodes) but I think its been more hit than miss recently

I finally gave The Bible a shot tonight.

-as dramatic entertainment, i think it falls pretty flat. there isnt enough narrative to draw emotion
-as a tool to teach biblical stories, i think it works pretty well. most people have heard of moses, abraham, king david, etc, but dont really know their stories which i think is kind of interesting. growing up and even in schools you learn stories about hercules, perseus, odysseus, beowulf, king arthur, etc, but you never touch any of this stuff. even during the course of normal church services you never hear these stories - its like you were supposed to doing the readings before showing up to class where the prof talks about something else.

i think the people who really like it/are giving it the high ratings are people already very familiar with the stories and are using their own imaginations to fill in what the show is missing.

It's all on my DVR at the moment. I caught about 10 minutes of episode 1. Saw the last plague through the parting of the Red Sea. Visually it was cool. It could use some more production value but you get what you pay for.

A friend of mine summed it up well I think (based on the little I saw):

Remember – this is a televised interpretation and retelling of the Bible; it is not the actual thing. Any time the story is transposed from it’s original medium (either the Hebrew Scrolls or Greek Papyri), it loses some meaning and eliminates important points. We have to remind ourselves that this is not the inspired Word of God; it is a tool that points viewers to the inspired Word of God by displaying some of its features. By nature, the miniseries cannot be 100% accurate; only the Word itself is totally infallible and inerrant. This is not the Word of God – but the word of man about the Word of God. Having said that, I believe it has thus far been sound.

I've been watching some old Boy Meets World episodes while getting ready for work in the mornings.

I'm actually excited to see how this turns out. Hopefully it's more of like Season 1-4 with BMW than seasons 5-7.

I mean, it's not the best comedy on TV but I laughed. Based on 1 episode the cast has good chemistry. Bill Pullman is not aging well though....

Agree. It definitely is not the best, but we've watched ever episode so far, and we enjoy the characters and I think they've done a good job on the story lines.

And agree, Bill Pullman does look like he put on a few lbs and did not take care of himself sicne he was Lonestar.

Jenna Elfman looks good though.
