Oh wow I never knew that about that family.
This show has an outstanding "The Long Ships" vibe, which is a really awesome and famous book. Rather than portraying the vikings as nothing but ruthless killers, they give them some intelligence and show that nearly everything they do follows logically and rationally from their culture and belief system.

I swear a show like Lost would've been canceled if it debuted in 2012/13.
