(Homer about to tell Marge he did not graduate high school)

Homer: Marge, I have something to tell you. I ate all of the fancy bathsoaps.
Marge: What?
Homer: No, I mean, Marge, I never graduated high school.
Marge: Back to those fancy bathsoaps.

My Homer is not a communist. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a communist, but he is not a porn star.

Homer: I did it! Second in line, and all I had to do was miss eight days of work.
Man: With the money you would have made working, you could have bought tickets from a scalper.
Homer: In theory, yes. … Jerk.

Exactly. That's why I don't understand why shows are cancelled so quickly. Most shows I enjoy and are long lasting are shows that if you go back and watch the first few episodes, they suck. But you have to establish the characters, build the story and move from there. To cancel something after 2 shows is dumb IMO.

I actually think the first couple seasons of Seinfeld are the best. It actually was about nothing then and seemed funnier to me. In the later years, it got too over-the-top.

Spoiler:
the duality of the machine, i.e. feeding Root, while also feeding Finch, John & Shaw, and the hunt for the machine, appear to be the longer arcs of the season, even if they hadn't shown the same feeding to John as Root in recent eps.

Lots of shows have really great episode premises in their first year. They are the ideas that got the show greenlit. But it isn't until the actors figure out the characters and the writers learn how to write for them that the shows really take off.
