It was OK and I'll watch again tonight, but it has to get better if it'd going to last more than a season.

Unfortunately this seems to the the mold lately. Great show ideas but not quite delivering. However... the production quality seems quite high so I think that the network has put a lot of money into it which means that they intend to keep it going.

this sounds like what happened with terra nova.

That show looked interesting. I want to see it. Almost Human, not terra nova.

I finally got caught up on HIMYM. Like someone else said, the last 2 episodes have been better, mainly because they have taken place outside of the wedding setting. And it also brought in some aspect of the mom as well.

Homeland question.

My wife and I are wary about starting new shows. We are happy that most of our more over the top violent/sex filled shows are ending soon or have already ended (with the exception of GoT). Violence doesn't really bother us but sometimes it's too much for our liking (see: SoA). We can handle overly sexual scenes as they usually don't last long (except...well...SoA). How is Homeland when it comes to these themes? We'd like to get into a new action/drama but don't want to start something we are going to "want to stop but can't".

It sounds like it has adult language and adult themes, so may not be what you're looking for.

While there is some violence in Homeland, it is not even in the same universe as Sons. I think you will be fine. And while there is some sexual stuff, none of it is over the top.

Homeland is a good show, though I don't feel like I cant wait a week in between episodes like I do with Breaking Bad, Sons, Boardwalk Empire, etc.

Thanks. We're not prudes but we are trying to cut back on the gratuitous violence and sex we view on TV. We're not perfect and we're going to finish SoA and GoT. We just don't want to start anything else on that level.

I dont watch GoT, but Homeland is closer to Full House than it is Sons. As you know, Sons has some moments when it is just uncomfortable (almost sickening to a point) to watch. That has never happened to me watching Homeland.

I'm pretty sure you'd like Homeland. The nudity sex is limited and when it's there, it's there for a reason. There's violence, but again, violence that serves the story.

1st season of Homeland is as good as it gets in TV history, then they focus more on entertaining, but still good. This season is picking back up.

Catching up some last night, CSI from 11-6. Sanders is accused of planting evidence.
Spoiler:
Not bad, but you know they aren't going to write the guy off the show so you know they have to clear him in the end. And they do.

Technically the second episode... The only thing that I could see me getting annoyed with is the racial/discrimination stuff in regards to the treatment/view of the androids.

Granted the zabka-tage joke was funny but they should start calling it How I Met Your Filler.

GDT The Strain coming to FX July 2014.

I've only read the 1st book and it's pretty much a mess, but I still dug it.

to recap for the uninitiated, this show had the following take place in one episode:

-a dead priest used as a comedic foundation
-a plot revolving around neil patrick harris and his biological gay brother played by wayne brady (read that again)
-billy zabka playing himself. and he's just there, chilling at the wedding as a good friend of the groom
-a rastafarian smoking weed next to an 8 foot giant squid that washed up on a beach
-john lithgow's wife being abducted
-neil patrick harris planting a suicide note allegedly written by said wife

when you list it out like that, it's really really depressing

We're barely into the current season, we're that far behind. But it meant no cliffhanger as we sped right through to the new season. And TNT was kind enough to oblige us by putting last season into their syndication run already, that we were able to tape (but haven't yet watched) The Squab and the Quail episode that got skipped last April. Saved us the $1.99 it was on Amazon. (We also missed the 4th or 5th ep this season when the DVR was frozen, but current-season is on Hulu, and we're not far from being able to avail that option)

Last night, it was New Girl, Mindy, Sons, and HIMYM. Ran us from 9:30 to almost midnight but cleared up space for tonight's Survivor/Criminal Minds/CSI/Coven on that machine.

New Girl:
Spoiler:
Focused on Coach taking out CiCi, and Schmidt's reaction, and on Winston's cat Ferguson. The latter bordered on the strange, with Nick ending up being the third wheel (and not getting the hints). The former had Jess trying to keep Schmidt from ruining CiCi's date. There were some good laughs, but some of it seemed forced. Kind of in the sitcom genre the last 20 years, two main romantic interests with their on-again, off-again, will they, won't they, type tension.

Mindy:
Spoiler:
Strange. My wife still likes this show but I find it trying at times. The actress that played Dharma guest-stars.

HIMYM:
Spoiler:
All that progress with backstory that showed the mother was wasted this week. And for the love of God can we please get Marshall there already? There's only so much I can take of the damn road trip.
