Mac, I guess so. I know it first happened to me 3-4 years ago. I was home myself and my dad came in late from work. I woke up, I could hear him moving around downstairs. I wanted to get up and tell him something and I couldn't move. No matter how hard I tried. I was scared out of my mind. I probably only laid there like that for 20-30 seconds but it felt like an eternity then all of a sudden I could move. I then reseached it online and never knew a condition like it existed until then. I've had it happen a few more times but its not alarming since I read about it and been through it. Still sucks.

Haha yea it don't bother me anymore and hasnt happened in a while. Its still crazy to think about because it's still not quite like sleep walking though from what I read it's like a guard so your body doesn't sleepwalk.

I get sleep paralysis thats not fun.

Yea you can see whats going on but you can't move it's scary at first. You're helpless.

The aliens part too. I felt like I was being watched, they were everywhere. Eventually i was able to "break out" of it and hobble to the bathroom near my 'rents room. I only really remember it happening once or twice back when I was 10.

i used to have this recurring dream when i was younger that i couldnt pay a bill from a furniture company.. i dont know why.. but it scared the bajeebus outta me.

I go to see the general practice doctor yesterday, who (surprise) schedules me to see a specialist. Why can't I just skip a step lol

they can do a preliminary check with a oximeter which you can just tape on your finger at home then decide if you need to do a sleep lab.

Sleep walking is awful. Nothing like coming to somewhere and not knowing how you got there.

you have a pattern of being helpless in your dreams. usually, that would have some real-life implications.

I must admit I have this. I have had all the surgeries possible and use a Bipap machine nightly. It has improved my life and very likely extended my lifespan. Many are afflicted with this problem and they don't even know it. It will shorten your life span period imo.

bumping an old thread - who here uses a sleep machine? I do. Ticks me off, because it does absolutely nothing for my sleep. Im still tired as hell every day, every morning, and I get almost 8 hours of sleep a night. I feel like sleep doctors are such a sham.

I went and got the whole sleep study done, but never went ahead and got the CPAP machine because I wanted to see if exercise/losing weight would help (and I really, REALLY didn't want to undergo another sleep study). About 30 lbs later, my wife says it's like night and day with how much I a) snore and b) toss and turn at night.

Yeah, shad, my doctor told me that anyone who is considered obese is automatically considered to have sleep apnea. Congrats on the weight loss, by the way.

I've been on my machine about 6 weeks or so. At first I could tell a big difference; or at least I thought I did...not so much anymore.
I don't really feel better when I wear it, but I can tell a difference when I DON'T wear it at night...if that makes sense.

I end up taking the mask off at night without even knowing it. Then it sounds like were sleeping in a wind tunnel until i realize and shut the machine off.

sorry to bump this old thread, but can anyone point me in the direction of a decent CPAP equipment supplier? My doctor is absolutely ripping me off for hundreds of dollars a month for seals, masks, and tubing.

I heard a story recently that said a common problem in sleep studies is that some males seem to forget that they're being recorded and ... well ... *ahem* ... act as if they're alone ...
