Finished We Need to Talk About Kevin last weekend....pretty messed up. I thought she did a pretty cool job of telling the story of a school shooting from the mother's perspective.

Reading Picture of Doian Gray right now, about half way through. Not sure if Lord Henry is supposed to be a villain or what, but so far he's one of my favorite characters of all time.

Now reading As We Go Marching by John T. Flynn, which can be downloaded for free in pdf or ebook formats from the Mises institute (http://mises.org/document/2972/As-We-Go-Marching). Written in 1944, it’s a cutting criticism of the United States’s involvement in the war and an explanation of how the US was adopting the fascist characteristics of the nations it was fighting. Originally a leftist, Flynn broke with Roosevelt over the breadth of the New Deal and his perceptions of increasing militarism from the While House.

Just finished Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin. The movie "Lincoln" was based off of (at least a very small portion of). I had started reading it about 2 months before the movie had come out, but between almost no time to read anything other than legislation/policy briefs, I haven't had much of a chance to sit down with it.

One of the best books I've ever read. Great pace, great writing, and well put-together.

Still think the story about Ethan Allen's visit to Britain after the Revolutionary War is one of my favorite parts.

Just finished Gerald McKnight's Breach of Trust: How the Warren Commission Failed the Nation and Why; which is a recent (2005) academic/ evidentiary critique of the Warren Commission. Pretty good stuff.

Now reading Jeremy Scahill's Dirty Wars which I'm about 1/4 through and it's awesome.

Drive through Daley (Daily?) plaza this past week. It's kind of an erie feeling actually looking at the grassy knoll.

Well a book called proof of heaven would have to be off if you're looking at it from a faith point of view. Faith really has nothing to do with proof.

Yea so far I like it. I haven't read a book in a while and this one has really kept my interest.

finished Tarzan of the Apes, it was really great. I want to start getting into john le carre george smiley cold war spy books, but after Tarzan, it's going to be hard not picking up the next installment.

I've read a few of Nick Hornby's books including Hi Fidelity, how to be good, a long way down, and most recently; "Juliet, naked". Being a big fan of the EPL, though my favorite is "fever pitch" (which was only slightly diminished by that abomination of a movie.

I just finished HHH by Laurent Binet, it's about the assasination of Heydrich by Czech resistance fighters during WWII. Awesome story and the author tells it an in interesting way, sort of chronicling the process of writing a historical narrative.

Reading on the Road for the first time....about halfway through, this is definitely a timeless book.

There is somthing going on constantly in that book. I'm not sure how they turned that into a movie, but i assume it's terrible.

I was always intrigued by how they would do it but, like you, always figured it would be no good. The book I would like to see made into a movie before Morgan Freeman dies is The Giver. I think he would make an excellent Giver.

Can't talk about On The Road without mentioning probably my favorite literary quote of all time.

So far i like the parts where Dean isn't involved. Sal's obsession/love affair with Dean seems unfounded at this point in the story.
