The Cards have signed Drug Cheat Jhonny Peralta. 4 years, $52M. It pays to cheat.

He will be the next Melky, sign a nice deal from PED use and fall apart.

It's the Cardinals. They have undetectable PEDs.

Who goes first ballot?

Maddux
Glavine
Mussina
Thomas
Kent

Maddux definitely will and it will be one of those classic jokes when he doesn't go in unanimously. I would assume Glavine goes as well. I think Thomas will eventually get in. I don't know about Mussina, I don't think Kent ever gets in.

I don't think Glavine is a 1st ballot guy.

300 wins, world series mvp, multiple silver slugger, a ton of all star games. I guess maybe not.

MLB has ridiculous criteria for being a 1st ballot HOF. Glavine's numbers are a little inflated by longevity.

One of the issues is that fans tend to overrate players, from when they were 12 years old.
It's very common and perhaps even understandable.

Right or wrong, I think that Maddux coming up the same year as Glavine might impact the voters' decisons. Maddux is basically a no brainer first ballot guy. They'll probably not vote glavine in just to differentiate the quality difference between the two.

Totally baseless opinion on my part, admittadly. But if anything, the people that vote for the baseball hall of fame are jerkwads that like to do things like that.

When I look at the list, I don't even come up with 10 that i'd vote for, but Glavine is one of them. Some of them would be people that didn't make it last year...and I would have voted for them last year as well, so obviously my opinion is off.

The guys on MLB Network right now think that if Maddux, Thomas, and Glavine aren't each voted in first ballot, its a joke.

I'd definitely put Maddux, Glavine and Thomas in first ballot. I certainly don't expect them all to make it because a sizable portion of BBWAA members are buttheads and think they need to further distinguish HoF members by first ballot HoF'ers and then just the rest.

I also think Barry Bonds, among others, should make it but he's probably only got a marginally better shot at getting in than I do.

Maddux should be able to threaten to be able to beat Ryans crazy high percentage of 99.whatever.

Yeah 98.8 according to the link Columbia posted. There's not a good reason to not vote for Maddux, that holds true for Ryan, Ripken, and all the others who were in the upper 90s and absolute slam dunk hall worthy though.

I will never understand the reasoning to not vote for someone who is qualified to be a HOFer because it's his first ballot. Either he is or isn't worthy.

There are writers who take it upon themselves not to vote for a certain player so they don't get unanimous (because nobody ever has).

I wish ballots were public record and make them defend their votes.

The door closed, and Andre Dawson looked directly into Hanley Ramirez's eyes.

"I'm not going to say a lot, because if you say the wrong the thing to me, then you might wind up on the floor on your rear end," Dawson said with Tony Perez standing by his side in a coach's office at Sun Life Stadium.

Awesome...I love seeing two legends put a little snot-nosed **** head in his place.

lulz. I doubt it "put him in his place". If he doesn't face injuries, his career is going to dwarf both of theirs. He's probably a jerk, but if these problems the last few days aren't blown out of proportion, then he knows he's about to have a drastically better career than either of those two and he probably didn't see much significance in those two yelling at him.

Yep, he knows he can get away with it and nobody will really care. Even if he ends up pissing enough people in Florida off and they decide to move him they'll be a line of teams willing to take him on, he'd probably end up in a better situation anyway. I don't think this will bother him a bit.

Just read this from page two of the thread. Lol
