"@Ken_Rosenthal: Source: #Astros close to signing Qualls, two years plus option, $9.5M plus incentives."

I understand it's the Astros and they have nothing but money to spend but, if this doesn't solidify that fast food workers deserve higher pay I don't know what does

Saw that trouble is brewing with the Braves moving out of the city. Tea Party and Democrats in Cobb County are banding together against the Republicans who approved using taxpayers funds for the new development.

Agreed for a business like the MLB although I can see tax money being used for transportation improvements.

in the end it'll all be for naught. sooooo glad I don't live in Cobb County. I don't go to a lot of games but I did go to the 4th of July game this year. nothing at all wrong with that stadium.

MIAMI -- Garrett Jones will try to give the Miami Marlins some much-needed offense at first base.

Jones agreed to terms with Miami on a $7.75 million, two-year contract, a person familiar with the negotiations said Monday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal hadn't been finalized and Jones had yet to take a physical.

I was wondering what the opinions are of adopting the little league / pony league rule of not running the catcher and no blocking the plate.

Braves traded for Ryan Doumit. pop. I guess they needed to upgrade their "catcher playing left field" position, since Gattis will be playin catcher behind the plate.

Wow. Supposedly the Yanks offered Choo 7/$140 after they signed Ellsbury. When Borass asked for Ellsbury $$$, they opted to sign Beltran.

Looking more like Tanaka is more likely to stay in Japan for the year. Its a shame, i was sure he'd be the one that makes it and is successful byond 6 months.

I'd go out there and take a few for the team for 7/$130m. There's certainly a lot more of me to hit than there is of Choo.
