More Braves news. Freeman agrees to a contract, apparantly in the $100M range...so long term.

131 over 8 years for freeman. Im beyond thrilled. I wasnt sure they were going to shell out a long term contract for him but this is awesome. They are definitely in a mode right now where buying up years past when they have control is pretty surprising.

All the more reason I think the Pirates/Burnett settle up at $10-11 million.

He should have gone out with Rivera...though I guess there is no reason to completely close the chapter on the 90s/2000s teams all in one year.

If their good over, bad under. I don't think he's going to want to gut out injuries on a meager team.

Thats a pretty easy over for me. I think he's going to play every 5th day, so i'd bet on him not getting to 135, i'd bet on him getting 100.

Over, easily. I'm guessing he'll play at least 140 unless he sustains a different injury.

He's pretty much the consummate professional and gamer, so I tend to disagree.

I agree that he is. I think 2012 was his last hurrah per say. He struggled in 2010 and had played 130 games in 2011. I think it's just a matter of him turning 40 and playing a demanding position. I think injuries are inevitable for him and he might force his way onto the field if there's the mental motivation of playing in a pennant race.

I just think that he's always forced his way onto the field and still will, regardless of their record. I do worry that he'll struggle though, and hit .260. Hoping for the Rivera-type finish instead.

Of course.

However, Glavine getting in on the first ballot lowered that standard.

Braves extend Teheran on 6 year deal worth $32.4 million. Buys out his arbitration years plus 1 FA year and an option for a second. Its obviously not a sure thing with a Pitcher this early, but if he goes anywhere near where he projects to go, this is going to be a huge steal. Even if he just repeats last season for the next 6 years, it will be a steal.

I saw an article on yahoo trying to argue that a stat Ks minus BBs would be better than K/BB. I say nay. Seems like a good number for the scoreboard watchers though.

Why do people compare Harper to Trout? Is Trout a me first, last, and only player too? Outside of potentially that, isn't Trout better in every way?

Their similar ages. Trout is a lot better player and person.
