Since when do we compare personalities when comparing players? Bryce Harper might not like long walks on the beach but he's pretty good

Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson got compared a lot...actually I think thats a pretty good parallel when comparing the talents.

as a WR/football player, I don't think Johnson could hold TO's jock strap.

I agree so far. But I think the comparisons are totally reasonable, they were/are the faces of baseball's future. Trout as a #1 prospect, Harper as "baseball's LeBron" on an SI cover at 16. I'd expect them to be compared until they retire.

Any thoughts on the Trout extension rumors? 6 years, $150 mill. possibly buys out two? years of free agency.

He'd be dumb to take that deal.

I think it's actually a good deal for both sides. Trout isn't sacrificing any dollars on that, actually on an annual basis he's getting a ton of money and the angels don't have to give the 10 guaranteed years.

He's getting paid a lot up front to delay the 10 year deal for 2 season.

But i just saw it was 7 years 150. If that's the case, he should just wait.

I think these deals are going to become more common, you see the same thing with the Braves. Of course thats two drastically different budgets, but teams are going to get as far ahead of these as possible...Trout is drifting into the biggest contract of all time territory if they wait any longer to do a contract.

I think it's great for Trout. Trout gets a handsome sum of money to buy out his final pre-arb and 3 arb years and then makes like 60-70 million in the last 2... then signs a 10-year mega deal at age 28 with the yankees for infinity billion

Seriously though, this is a guy that may be able to clear a 400 million dollar deal 6 years from now

He could also clear it in 4 years if he hits the market as a 26 year old. Plus he could probably get another 80-100 million in the deal after that if his body holds up. If he delays his entry to UFA status by 2 years that limits his ability to get another contract after the big UFA deal.

But what would he make over the next 4 years if he did that? 500k this year, then what, 10, 15, 20 million the next 3? Total of 45 million instead of 80?

I would think the suggested deal would have to pay him more over the same amount of time than if he just waited and got paid out as soon as possible.

He can make that 35 million back in free agency and get the hell away from an Angels team going nowhere.

The worst video I've seen was from basically the dugout angle on the hitter. You don't see anything but the plate area, but the sound is sickening.
