I think a cream pie is a pie filled with custard or pudding, but needs to have a whipped cream topping. Like Lemon Meringue Pie isn't a cream pie because it doesn't have a cream topping.

I use a recipe similar to this one as a base, then add whatever the heck you want to change it.

Tempering is a pita, but the best way not to have scrambled eggs in your cream............. :pop:
