Kraftster likes complicated trades, I think that's all he was saying not a dig on anyone. My first reaction to that deal was "that has Kraftster written all over it"

well to be fair i had my eye on benn and talked to krafster about it and had my eye on couture and talked to azkar about it and it seemed that we could all address needs/desires by tying these all together

Conditions of the pick:
If BHAW does not make the playoffs, LITT gets a 4th rounder
If BHAW makes the playoffs, LITT gets a 3rd rounder
If BHAW makes the finals OR keeps Ryder OR keeps Perron, LITT gets a 2nd rounder
If BHAW makes the finals AND keeps 1 of those players OR if BHAW keeps both players, LITT gets a 1st rounder

I would have forbade conditional trades or at least put up to a vote. There's no need to complicate things this much.

Benn was my best forward. It was not easy to accept, and I don't think I would have given up much, if any, more. Not a great trade for me for this year because goaltending was already a strength and goal scoring was a weakness. I just wish I had not made the Thornton trade a week earlier now that Benn is out, at least from a keeper perspective. In the end, I felt like the long-term value of having two of the top 5-10 goalies locked up was too much to pass up. I figure with a Quick-Miller tandem, Luongo-Vokoun tandem, and Rinne-Crawford tandem in the league I had to upgrade Hiller.

I'd still like to move Edler, Enstrom or Green for a forward and a lesser dman or just a forward.

Litt wanted slightly more than Markstrom + Etem and didn't want a roster player. I wasn't going to give up MORE rookies for what I was getting back. hence a pick entered the picture, but I wasn't just going to give up a first or 2nd regardless of the outcome given Perron could be out again with a concussion fairly easily. Maybe the conditions are a little too much, but whatever. The reason it's in there wasn't forced... it was b/c we were a little bit apart and LITT didn't want what I was wanting to give up and I didn't want to give up what he wanted.

Apologies for the conditional pick, I wasn't aware that that was unacceptable. As kraftster alluded to Troy and I had one last year with the gionta trade I believe and an issue was never brought up so I assumed it was fair game

I'm not sure what you are getting at - isn't this why conditional picks are usually included in trades? For the sake of having one to bridge any perceived differences in value and to account for any long term implications of the trade?

Yeah, I didn't know either, to be honest. Not sure what the issue is, but sorry if it was bad... I will gladly just not give LITT a pick
