In case anyone else liked the opening song it's 60 Feet Tall by Dead Weather. I had never heard any of their stuff before.

I wondered who the Sheridan character might represent; could be Dion O'Bannion or a composite of Northside guys Capone eventually rubbed out.

There is something deeply unsettling about violent, angry men who are able to remain quiet and calm. (Think Michael Corleone talking to Carlo at the end of the first Godfather, or Marcellus Wallace talking about bringing the pliers and blowtorch to bear on Zed) You can almost smell the fury pouring out of their souls.

The song is fine, I just don't think it fits the show at all.

I agree doesn't seem to fit; I just liked it.
As far as scenes where violent men show a cold fury I always liked Clint's scene in Unforgiven when William Munny finds out they killed his friend Ned Roundtree and put him on display.

Tonight's episode (10/17) started slowly, but ramped up as the show progressed.

The last 10 minutes, especially the final minute....WOW!!!!!

but seriously...this show hasn't really lived up to the promise of the first episode. i think the biggest issue is that nucki (sp?) isn't really a compelling character. the secondary folks (rothstein, capone and the fbi guy) are much more entertaining. and jimmy's really stalled. bleh.

Jimmy bores me, but I think it's more because the guy playing him isn't a particularly good actor. He is soooooo dull, and his acting in monotonous.

last night was a pretty decent filler episode. hatchetface and her laudanum addiction was pretty entertaining. this show should've been centered around chalky white, though.

the show needs to start digging into the awesomeness that is Rothstein.

Didn't particularly like last night's episode. Too many story lines played out in odd ways, especially the bit in the final scene. That was potentially a jump-the-shark moment.

Jimmy's fine, the writers just haven't given him anything interesting to do.... yet.

The more they show Jimmy's mom, the creepier she gets.

My wife's theory is that Jimmy's wife is actually doing the 'Bohemian' thing by hooking up with the photographer's wife. That would be sweet.

Even though Nucky is attracted to Margaret, this was a "get her in line" lay. He sees her as a potential threat. He knows she tipped off the Feds. He needed to do something to defuse the threat. He gave he what he thinks she wanted.

As for Jimmy's g/f (they aren't married), I think it's a threesome. But since the man is a photgrapher, would that make it a tripod?

I think one reason that I have a hard time buying into the consummation of the Nucky/Margaret relationship is that the notion of anyone choosing to have sex with someone who looked like Steve Buscemi for anything other than seems somewhat difficult for me to believe.
