Cereal Mixing

Postby Kraftster on Fri Jan 28, 2011 9:27 am

Does anyone else mix cereals?

Lately I've been experimenting with Cinnamon Life and Rice/Corn Chex. I definitely prefer the Life + Rice combo to Life + Corn. At about 2:1 Life its just about perfect.

Other personal favorites include:

Frosted Mini Wheats + Honey Nut Cheerios (This one was born out of necessity in undergrad. When I spent all my money and needed to eat, I would just eat all of the Sam's Club food I had on consecutive days. This resulted in stretches of as long as 10 days of just cereal. FMW and HNC are the staples from Sam's. When I got tired of just FMW after a few days, I started mixing, and the results are pretty solid. Its the only thing from my "Sam's Club weeks" that I still eat. Other weeks included nothing but Chunky Clam Chowder mixed with Cheez-its for a week. Still love Cheez-Its, simply cannot touch clam chowder, but that's for another day and another thread).

Honey Bunches of Oats + Honey Nut Cheerios

Honey Bunches of Oats + Frosted Mini Wheats

Corn Chex + Rice Chex (this one seems obvious. Its the best way to eat Chex).

Rice Chex + Rice Crispies

There are definitely others, but I am drawing a blank.

I mix if I only have a little bit left in the box and I have another box available. I don't seek out mixing although I might start.

I haven't ate cereal on a regular basis since I was in high school. When I do nowadays, I just buy the big Malt-o-Meal bags....I refuse to be ripped off by Big Cereal.

I only mix if I don't have enough of one cereal available. Although Cinnamon Life + Cheerios is pretty awesome.

I often mix and match to get me started in the morning, but it's usually not cereal. :pop:

I tried mixing once, when I was 5 or something, with horrid results. It was really disappointing, because the math should work: add one awesome thing to another awesome thing will make a super-awesome thing; but alas the taste chemistry failed. I haven't gone back since.

I hate mixing cereals. I prefer to enjoy each cereal in its own context.

I’m not a cereal mixer. I eat cereal for its simplicity and convenience. If I wanted to mix ingredients I'd make waffles.

Don't do much mixing. I once got boxes of cinnamon pecan and vanilla almond special k expecting great things. Turned out the vanilla trumped everything else so now I stick with cinnamon pecan only.
