Soundhound is good for ID'ing songs and will follow along and display lyrics. Song recognition seems pretty good, even acknowledging songs in a noisy area. Once it recognizes the song, it will show artist, song title, album, and secondary stuff like option to buy on itunes or amazon. Database seems pretty deep. It claims over 10,000,000 songs. Was actually surprised that groups like Bad Brains, Jawbox, and Pegboy were included. I know some of the older Verizon phones had this installed as an option so you can buy ringtones, but this seems to be the most detailed version that I've seen.
It's free, but there's also a paid version. Not sure how much of an upgrade it would actually be. More songs, as if 10,000,000 weren't enough?
Edit: Soundhound does not follow along with the lyrics, but it does display them. I thought it did the other day but I just tried it and it started at the beginning of the song.
Overall, what does it do?
Song title, artist, album, download on iTunes option, bookmark the song as a favorite, share that you're listening to it on Facebook, lyrics, the option to listen to the song on youtube, download a ringtone from iTunes, lists tourdates from that artist, lists similiar artists, lists song's album appearances (i.e. soundtrack, compilations, etc.), and people who have mentioned the title or artist on Twitter.
