I had a cool weather, message, text thing on my lockscreen but that messed up my previous phone (iPhone 2).

I really hope Apple incorporates better lockscreen usage and a better notification system in iOS 5.

one thing id like would be to see emails that have come in without unlocking. also id love if they made the weather app customizable so you could set it to show weather for a city instead on the icon instead of 73 degrees and sunny

I have LockInfo so it shows current weather/temperature, forecast for the next 6 days, my calendar events for the day, any to do items I have in pocket informant, new e-mail messages (subject only - you can tap them to read/delete but stay on the lockscreen) and it also shows my favorites at the bottom so I can tap them and call from the lockscreen.

There are lots of plug-ins for other stuff, too.

LockInfo takes care of the e-mail on your lockscreen, Winterboard can do the current weather on the Weather app icon.

I am hardly ever using my iPhone when it isn't plugged in, so not too worried about the battery.

Battery life has not been any different for me (except when I'm playing SNES games... :P )

Fahrenheit in the app store can do the weather thing but it's not free.

Starwalk is a cool app. It's an astronomy app that mimics the view of the sky and makes identifying celestial objects simple.

Another icon.

Another great reason to jailbreak and get SBSettings - you can hide useless junk like Weather, Contacts, Compass, etc.

Oh yeah, forgot about Safari Download Manager. Definitely a must have. I just got Wifi Sync and love it. Not a must-have but still awesome.

Is it hard to revert back to iOS after jailbreaking?

Apple bought the company that created boxcar and hired the guy who developed the notifications for webOS away from Palm/HP so I would expect to see much better notifications in iOS soon.

And Jailbreak your device, even if you don't go down the path to the Dark Side with Installous and Appsync there are a lot of great things like Cyntact, biteSMS, FaceBreak, Five Icon enhancements, console game system emulators, Infinifolders, MyWi, WeatherIcon and custom themes to name a few.

lol, have to agree there. $.99 for stuff like Angry Birds (which has given me hours of playtime) or other quality apps is hardly an unreasonable price to pay.

Jailbreaking is obviously no biggie, but deliberately stealing software? Meh.
