My top goal is to qualify for the 2016 US Open at Oakmont. I'm going to try and qualify next year, just to get some practice playing in a qualifying event, so I can know how possible it is for me. Right now I play about twice a week and am a 2 handicap. I think if I start practicing a lot more I might have a chance at a local course to win the regional qualifier, but I highly doubt I will be able to make it through all the qualifiers. It will be fun to try though. :thumb:

Bachelor party at the beginning of may, day 2 is supposed to kick off with golf...but I may kick it off at the beach with a cooler of beer. I haven't golfed the last 2 years.

I've ordered refurbs off of Amazon, you honestly can't go wrong there. I actually just paid for these last summer:

You could go to the driving range I used to work at and get quality golf balls that rich old geezers hit into the range for 25 cents a ball (last I remember).

you ever try top flite gamers LITT? They are 3 piece balls, prices at abotu $20. They dont spin quite as much as the prov's and the like, but they perform great for the price.

Just buy precept or topflight gamer balls. They are good enough for amateurs, and they are cheap.

The gamer tour has the urethane cover, which is better. But cannot go wrong with either. DSG or Golf Galaxy usually has those two styles on sale as 2 for 25 or 2 for 35.

The Marine base I work on has a golf course. I like playing there because it's mostly empty, and since I'm still a reservist I pay the enlisted rate instead of the civilian rate. The other cool thing is they have a 24-hr self-service driving range.

When I was a kid I used to caddy at Nemacolin CC, my Dad lives in Beallsville. I'd like to play there someday just for old times sake.

There must be lots of tickets available for that RBC tournament in Hilton Head, because there's a commercial on the radio for it every five minutes.

So there's a Hampton Inn a few minutes from my parents house and about 35 minute drive to Augusta National.
They are charging $450 a night all week and have been booked up for months.

one of the all time gr8 tax loopholes is the rule that says if you live in a house more than 14 days a year (i.e. your main home) and you rent it out for less than 14 days a year, any rent income does not have to be reported. there are urban legends that golfers will rent out homes in augusta for the week of the masters for sums well in excess of five figures (at least EPP's definition of in excess of 5 figures) and the homeowners dont have to pay federal income tax on that rent.

not a bad perk for living in some 3rd rate town in georgia.

Yes, plenty of people in Aiken, SC - where my parents are - do that...though most likely to random joe golf fans.

And outside of the golf course, Augusta is a complete hole. I'm always amused to hear comments from people in da norf, who have never been there, talk about how great it is.

I've had the privilege of 'covering' the Masters 3 different times...and by covering, I mean getting to be on the course for about 90 minutes thanks to the National's rules. I've had the privilege of staying in Aiken in some fleabag motel for the week and enduring the drive to and from each day for work. The other times, I stayed in rented-out houses. There is so much reverence for the course, and rightfully so, but outside of that, it's strip mall and franchise restaurant after strip mall and franchise restaurant. Thankfully, I haven't had to go back there the last couple of years and unless I'm going to play the course (highly unlikely) or will actually get on the course to cover it, I don't care to go back.

I don't usually watch golf, but when I do it ends in a 42-yard chip-in for the win during a playoff. I only turned it on for background noise while studying. WOOOOOO.

The golf course on the Air Force base (joint base blah blah blah) in Charleston was awesome. Eight bucks for 18 holes of really good golf.
