Not sure if this is allowed here (apologize if not), but my friend makes hammocks and he is giving away one free one via Facebook tonight at 10PM.

There was one right on the lake/beach I looked in to, but it wouldn't allow pets so it was out.

Im going to Cheat Lake tomorrow for the first boating trip of the year, and I am beyond stoked.

Ive been saying this for the last two years, but I think I'm really going to try fishing on the first day of trout season this year. It will be the first time since 95 or 96.

Thats around when I quit fishing altogether, so I'm looking to get some new gear. My rod and reel and ok, but I'd probably want some new line on it.

Beyond that its like I'm starting completely over. I don't even remember much.

My family owns property [sorta] near Birdsfoot Golf Course right on Buffalo Creek, so thats where I'm gonna go.

If you are going to be creek fishing, fly fishing is a great thing to get into. If that's not your thing, you can still get some good spinner-bait and lures.

If you're going lake fishing, nothing beats maggots, mealworms, and nightcrawlers. I haven't gone fishing in 2-3 years. The price of the license is what deters me, really.

Used to fish Wheeling Creek years and years ago. Stocked fish so catching a limit was almost guaranteed. Meal worms, salmon eggs and corn were all that was required.
IIRC, was always a good time. Used to stay in a cabin some friends had.
Then, I started turkey hunting. Have'nt trout fished in Pa since.

I go fishing like 4-5 times a year. It's not really worth it IMO.

Probably about 7 years ago, my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I were up at Lake Arthur for the day to do some fishing, hiking, etc. I was fishing from shore, and the blue gills were hitting, so my wife wanted to give it a shot. Sure enough, she hadn't been fishing for 2 minutes when the fish commission showed up and gave her a $100 fine for fishing without a license. From that point on, I have gotten her a license every year just to be safe. She doesnt trout fish, so it's only like $22 for what she needs.

Agree. I'm too old to be constantly looking over my shoulder for 'the man' to see if I need to cut and run.
I hunt and fish because I enjoy it. I'm defeating the purpose if I have to concentrate more on not getting busted than the task at hand.

Seen a reference to bow hunting on the “Where are my gun owners” thread.
Well, it’s time to tune up! Started shooting about a month ago and am just now feeling confident out to 50 yards. Don’t laugh. I’m. Old. Damnit. The days are long gone when I would shoot year round and had the confidence of a momma bear in a bee hive. This summer has been very pleasant compared to years past where you couldn’t breathe due to the heat and humidity. And, because of the fair weather, my stands are hung (hanged? whatever), camo clothes have been laundered and placed in plastic tubs with those earth scented dryer sheets. I put new strings and cables on my bow back in the winter and timed my cams and I’m ready! Most of my deer hunting is done with bow and arrow since moving to IL in 1998. (No rifles allowed for deer hunting so I use a muzzleloader during the firearms seasons.) The bow opener in IL begins 1 Oct and I’ll be in a tree. Gone too, are the days when I would sit all day. Nope. Not going to happen and hasn’t for 10 years or so. I’ll hunt approximately 4 hours in the mornings, come in and grab a bite, maybe take a nap, help the farmer that allows me hunt and hit the stand for maybe 3 hours again in the evening.
I want to wish everybody luck that pursues these critters with stick and stone. Modern equipment takes a lot of the ‘primitive’ out of it, but I’ll take it. Good luck and good hunting.
And question for y’all that bow hunt in Pa: If you shoot a buck with a bow, does it have to have at least 4 points on a side or does that apply to rifles/firearms only?

Taking my motorcycle up to the Outer Banks this weekend, to visit a buddy of mine who is a conservation officer up there. Pretty stoked, get to go clamming for the first time and possibly deep sea fishing again for the first time since 2010(!).
