I'll definitely participate, always fun having a fantasy team. I don't mind which site we use, but i'll have a look around both when i get home from work.

Anybody want to post your teams in here since we can't view them on the site until after week one? Or do we want to keep a mystery element to the game?

OK, I finally got the FPL registration to work and picked my team.

How does it work with players that transfer out of the EPL after the start of the season? For instance, if Bale goes to Real Madrid right before the transfer deadline at the end of August, do any fantasy owners just have use a transfer to pick another player?

Just a reminder to everyone interested in this to get signed up before Saturday.

It looks like there are more people in Yahoo!, so why don't we just go with that? Although I also saw today that ESPN is hosting fantasy EPL this year too.

OK, I already picked teams in both leagues, but I'll treat my Yahoo one as my real team (unless my other team starts doing better, in which case that one is my real team :) ). I was really hoping a couple of the big transfers would have gone down already (if they're going to happen). I'm kind of shying away from picking attacking players from the top teams, since there's so much uncertainty around Suarez, Bale, Rooney, E'too maybe going to Chelsea, etc. Such are fantasy owner problems...

So with the Chelsea/Villa game being finished, that should wrap up the first fantasy week, right?

Thank god for Benteke. Rest of my team sure didn't do anything.

Benteke definitely helped me out a good bit too. It seems like a lot of people have him, though, so it kind of evens out.

I was looking at some of the global leaders, and even though I occupy the lofty #2 spot in the LGP league, I'm about 100 points behind the global leaders. It seems that most of the leaders dump almost all of their salary into their starters and just have (not putting in the effort to figure out how to put in the pound symbol) $1 million scrubs on the bench. Are there unlimited transfers each week that you allow you to just drop anyone who gets injured or benched? If not, it seems like these leaders will get screwed over eventually. If there are unlimited transfers, I'm spending way too much on my substitutes.

Yea, I really don't understand how to manage subs and starters yet.

I just added myself to the FPL version.

The new Yahoo version seemed pretty weak, so I didn't bother to select any players there.

Mata better be sold this week or I've been seriously wasting a lot of money the first two weeks.

Edit: Nevermind. He's already dropped below his purchase price.

This is why I steered away from picking up too many people from the top teams (unless it's clear they'll have a consistent starting role). I think Mata is a great player and it boggles the mind that Mourinho apparently doesn't like him, but Chelsea, Man U, and Man City have so much talent, really good players can get relegated to the bench on a whim. I had Kagawa initially, since I thought he looked good at the Confed Cup and was about to have a break-out year, but then I read he wasn't featuring prominently in Man U's preseason games, so I dropped him.

Yeah, I'm still trying to decide which system I like better (FPL vs. Yahoo). I like the big price fluctuations in Yahoo as it adds an additional element to focus on (trying to grab guys before they are fast risers so you have them on a bargain deal). Both seem surprisingly slow to add players. I was really hoping to add Danny Rose for cheap in both since he seems to have bumped Assou-Ekotto and has looked good so far from what I've seen, but he's still not listed in either league. Mignolet wasn't listed the first two weeks either.

I like that FPL only allows one free transfer per week, so that you are stuck with your initial decisions, for better or worse. As I mentioned before, this makes the substitutes more important. However, I spend more time on my Yahoo team, since I can endlessly tinker with it. I went to FPL once last week to check my score and make my one transfer (to dump Kagawa), but then that was it. There wasn't really anything else for me to do.

I like FPL more than yahoo. I am still trying to work out how to fix the team up nicely.

AKA my team is currently better in FPL than yahoo

Ugh...I thought I was on top of things and subbed out my players from Chelsea and Villa, since they aren't playing this weekend, but it looks like I forgot to save the changes. It might be a tough week for Sporting Large.

My teams are really hurting this week. All sorts of people injured or sick, all sorts of people picking up yellows...

I was proud of myself for picking up Ozil on the cheap prior to this weekend, but then checked this morning and saw his good performance was cancelled out by David Silva not playing at all for City. In the FPL league, Cahill didn't play for Chelsea and Oscar only came on with 15-20 minutes left. I guess City and Chelsea were sitting some regulars to rest them up for UCL this week?

Anyone still updating their team? I know I have been mainly for my Pipers league, just checking to see if I was the only one

I know this was mentioned briefly in the big Futbol thread, but any interest in doing this again this year? Since I don't root for any specific team, playing fantasy definitely enhanced my enjoyment of the EPL last season.
