LGP Fantasy Futbol (EPL) League 2013

Postby Kraftster on Fri Aug 05, 2011 7:42 pm

Edited for 2013 season. See post on Page 2:

Kraftster wrote:So we should look at putting this together over the next couple of weeks. I have created LGP Fantasy Futbol leagues in both Yahoo!: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/fantasy/p ... eague/home (Group ID: 749 Password: 2dd78s8) and Fantasy Premier League: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ (League code: 386245-99580).

I am not sure which site people would rather use. The games are set up fairly similarly. Seems like Yahoo! has made some changes this year to make things more like FPL.

I could really go either way (or both to see which we like better?) on the site. If you guys want to go play around with the sites, try to join the league, see what features you like/don't like report back and maybe we can settle on one over the other.

It's asking for a group ID #, rather than name.

Thanks for setting this up daddy-K.
Any hints would be appreciated...it's definitely a different scheme for fantasy sports.

No real good tips until we see how the points work. It is a lot like smallworld fantasy sports back in the day (late 90s), which was always pretty cool. Principal difference being that in smallworld, you could keep your profits if you bought a player low and sold him after his price went up -- kind of bummed that you can't do that.

This is cool, though. Hopefully we get a few more by next week.

I bought my team. Way tougher than I expected. Led by Clichy, Walcott, Suarez.

The only game I have right now is that my team name is terribly English.

That was really difficult to pick. Kept trying to find players that I thought would play every week. Banking on N'Zogbia playing really well at Aston Villa. Don't quite get the points system - why is Park Ji-Sung so expensive, for instance?

I have no real CB's in my lineup - not really sure if that'll bite me. My team? An N'Zogbia on the Rocks.

Thanks for organising Krafster, I've signed up..Go tell the Spartans

havent looked in too much detail but will be interested to see how they decided the prices - i got Aguero for just 6.55?

I may look back with regret on using most of my money on midfielders and forwards to the detriment of my defence - i'm looking at you Mr Wheater and Mr Woodgate :scared:

The prices are decided on last season's numbers, I think, which is why Aguero and some others and players on QPR and Norwich are so cheap. Shhh.

How much variance will we see on the prices throughout the season?
It seems like it should change weekly.

Yeah, I think the prices change at least weekly. I'd imagine some guys prices will change dramatically at the beginning and then probably make more gradual moves. I like that they keep all prices the same until the league starts, it'd be tough on people of prices were already moving based upon how player ownership was trending.

looking forward to the4 first game of the season.

I have a team in a league at work and there is money involved, however bragging rights on LGP will be far more satisfying :-)

Another salary question:

Suppose I get a pretty good buy at 5 (pounds? :pop: ) on a player and their price moves up after the first week.
Does my cost stay the same, as long as I retain them on the roster?

I was in an NFL league through Yahoo, that had a similar team building set up.
If you bought low on a player early in the season, you could get and retain some great bargains.

I guess we'll see by week two.
