I am looking to plan a golf trip for 16-20 people. Last year we went to the upper pinensula of michigan via bus, was about 12 hours of bus time. We would like to keep it a little closer, either via bus or flight. I'd say budget is roughly 600-700/person. We have been looking at Myrtle Beach and Virginia among others. Anyone have other good recommendations of a viable trip within budget?

Timeframe: travel thursday, 2 rounds friday, 2 rounds saturday, maybe one round sunday depending on travel constraints, travel sunday evening

Kenny the kangaroo just returned from myrtle beach for a bachelor party/golf vacation this weekend. three rounds were played, all on decent courses, the toughest/most interesting/ball busting was grande dunes. as far as price goes, 3 rounds+condo was $360, which was reasonable IKTKHO.

Yar we stayed at myrtlewood and played two rounds there, there are about 239058205602381563478956 condos there. two fo the dudes drove, so there was ample driving to get to/from courses w/o having to pay the $$$ for a cab or rental van or whatever.

Come to the DC area. Take a day and play at Congressional in Bethesda (where the US open was held). The next day play at Woodmont country club in Rockville MD, where there are qualifiers for a number of big tournaments. Or play 10 minutes from Woodmont at Manor, where thay also hold PGA qualifiers. Your off time can be spent in DC.

depending on when you go flying to the gulf coast of florida can be really cheap.

last may i flew nonstop to/from tampa, stayed in a condo for 7 nights on siesta key, and rented a car all for $1200 ($600 per person)

When are you going? My dad and some friends went to Pinehurst and got some great rates because they went in the off season. I think it was around this time of year.

I don't think it's too bad if you don't play #2. I was looking up golf trips a while back and that's what I remember. Myrtle Beach obvi would be good and affordable. It's hard to fathom how many courses are in that area.

we are looking in the march/april time frame. they seem to have an unlimited package for around 600-700. there are a few sites that price packages as well so im trying to put some feelers out. pinehurst would be awesome

Orlando. House rental for about $500 week. Golf rates from about $35-$50 per course. Nice weather.

The courses played-the two myrtlewood courses and grande dunes, were all fine courses. if you are going to play 72+ holes, the myrtlewood courses were pretty gentle and maybe a good tune up/place were no one will take it in the pooper. grande dunes is a newer course and kind of reminded kenny the kangaroo of nevillewood. plenty of forced carries, windy, a hilly (for a course in SC), with lots of expensive condos. again, not a bad place to place. they sell beer and liquor in costcos/wallgreens/etc so that is a plus. there was no one on the course most of the time, so that was nice. pace of play was gr8, but is probably a problem during a busier time.

I'd second Pinehurst. Went a couple years ago at the end of February. Two rounds of golf (including a round on #2) and one night condo for less than $300.

Williamsburg has some decent courses that one can play. They have packages for the kingsmill courses that are like 179 per day per person. Which is good.

looking at courses in myrtle. courses we are looking at: arcadian shores, farmstead, grande dunes, myrtlewoods, pine lakes, prestwick, river hills, tidewater, ocean ridge. anyone play these?

I've heard Arcadian Shores is sweet. Played Myrtle National 3 years ago, very nice course, but not sure how it compares to the rest of the Myrtle golf scene..

Bump.

What did LITT do? I'm looking for a September-ish trip. hopefully within like 6 hours, but everything I'm finding is near Williamsburg, or like 8 hours almost. We've been looking around Virginia...Michigan might get a little chilly. We could leave from my buddy's in Columbus. Anything good out in Kentucky or West Virginia? I haven't really found any good sites to look at, besides for each resort.

I can't remember if the Pete Dye Golf Club in WV is private or not but it is an absolutely amazing course.

edit - yep it is private. that being said if you ever have the chance to play it make sure you do.
