I don't expect any particular amount from any guest. For me personally, when I go to a wedding I give $75 if it's someone really really close to me, $50 kinda close and $40 if it's a 2nd cousin or something like that.

who cares? it's an obligation in the form of 3% customization (aka your name and gift) and 97% the same crap they write to everyone else. it's meaningless whether it's mass produced or hand written. i wouldn't care if every gift i ever gave for the rest of my life didn't receive a card in return. that's why they call it a "gift".
