I'd totally either strip those down to bare wood or use some sort of laminate wood grain.

Take out all the shelves on one side and get this:

It's only $5500.

When I was in Mexico, I found a predator skull in some run down out of the way shop. I'm pretty sure it's real. It made a great birthday gift

You said you're into WWII and military aviation, here's a website of WWII planes to get you started. They're great space takers (my uncle who used to build shelves, etc had a model of a B-24 Liberator along with pictures and stuff, looked great).

EDIT: That said, I don't know your budget, but so far I haven't seen anything over ~ $200

I have wanted this for years now. It will be going up directly opposite the tv, behind by big comfy overstuffed chair

I'd kinda like to put this in the corner, but it would probably be a little tacky:

something like this might work better:

For those of you without ductwork in your house, Mitsubishi has a ductless air conditioner called the Mr Slim. They're a little pricey but it could be something to look into.

I do believe you can do your whole home with these. I really have no info on these outside of seeing them at Home Depot.

i'd be really tempted to take down the mirror and its frame, and just mount the TV above the mantle

i think this weekend I am going to add faux brick paneling to the wall on the far right of that picture and drop some track lighting on it. Image

the idea of painting something onto the brick ala this has crossed my mind Image

Anyone have one of these? I'm thinking about putting one of these in for next winter. We love the fireplace for aesthetics, but they are about as efficient as...something that isn't very efficient.

Did you pull the trigger? I'm considering one myself. I have access to a decent amount of wood on my property, although it is probably 60% softwood.
