Anytime I've disagreed with Dejan on an article he's accused me of only reading the headline. Seems like thats his go-to

Well it also helps when the team there playing doesn't care at all.

since their callups from AAA

presley: 79ab .824OPS (plus only 1K in his last 39ab - averaged about 9 every 39ab prior)

tabata: 80ab .755OPS

only good thing to say about snider is his youth (half a year older than marte) and his potential (albeit in the hitters' park of hitters' parks in AAA: 335/423/598 1.021). stat-wise, the only good thing to look at this year with the pirates is his nice walk rate.

nice to see bryan morris have not only early success with the bucs but flashing late inning numbers: struck out 6 in his last 3IP

correia, 12-11 two year in a row. it feels like a rare feat for a SP to win 12+ games two years in a row AND have a winning record both years. couldn't have happened to a less appreciated guy. would be funny if he stays with the pirates next year with a bullpen role hah.

Rare actual good segment on The Fan this morning: Chipper Jones is the face of the Braves success over the last 20 years. Who is the face of the Pirates losing streak?

I agree with Paul Alexander. Jason Kendall. Played the most games of any player in the streak. Ridiculous contract given to him because they wanted to prove they'd play players now that they had the new ballpark (I understand this is not his fault). Treated Jack Wilson (and probably most other players not in his clique) like dirt. Couldn't play defense. Couldn't hit on grass.

I don't think there were any players, outside of Brian Giles, in Kendall's clique.

Both of those guys were about as nice to the young players as Barry Bonds was to the media.

Bryan Bullington, Danny Moskos, Bobby Hill or Matt Morris. The losing streak had nothing to do with the players, it's all on the decision makers.

I think part of his problem is that he's taking things personally when you call him out on an article. As a writer he should nobody is ever gonna be 100% behind his column. I don't know if maybe he's frustrated with the team, or maybe he's the new Ron Cook where everything has to be miserable and to think otherwise means that you're wrong.

I liked him as a reporter for the Pens. I even liked him as a reporter for the Pirates. But these last few months, following him on twitter has been one giant :face: .

Always thougtht that jason bay seemed like the face of the losing streak. He came up, had a few great years. During those great years, he was pretty candid with the media and spoke a lot about how he wanted to be the guy to turn the team around. However, you could tell after a while he greaw very frustrated with the situation and disgusted with the organization.

Dejan wrote an article talking about how the farm system now is the same as or inferior to the farm system in 2007, citing the likes of Ronald Belisario, Alex Presley, Duke Welker, Kyle McPherson, Sean Burnett, Steve Pearce, Tony Watson, Brad Lincoln, and more being part of the 07 farm system.

1. Outside of Cutch and Walker, he picked a bunch of fringe guys to talk about plus guys that were developed under NH.

2. Can you seriously not expect that in 5 years, NH and company will have developed a crop better than the list he mentioned? Sheesh.

Also he gives credit to Littlefield's group for Starling Marte.

Srsly? They found the guy and that's great, but they played a very minimal role in his development

It should be noted that Cam Bonifay drafted sean burnett.

Brad Lincoln was a top 10 draft choice that appears to be on the fast track to be a reliever and not even a closer.

The rest of those guys scream AAAA at best.

So Barahahahahahas' inability to throw runners out puts the Braves up 1-0 and Cutch continues to limp toward the finish line.

Pirates hitting coach Gregg Ritchie plans to become the head baseball coach at George Washington University and will not return to the Pirates in 2013, according to a source.

George Washington, Ritchie's alma mater, fired coach Steve Mrowka earlier this year. George Washington athletic department spokesmen could not immediately be reached for comment. Pirates Prospects first reported Ritchie's decision.

Conflicting reports

Pirates hitting coach Gregg Ritchie, a former standout outfielder at George Washington, said he isn’t interested in becoming the next baseball coach at his alma mater.

“That’s not going on right now,” Ritchie said Wednesday. “I have never even been told by anyone that I was a candidate.”
