Pirates hitting coach Gregg Ritchie plans to become the head baseball coach at George Washington University and will not return to the Pirates in 2013, according to a source.

George Washington, Ritchie's alma mater, fired coach Steve Mrowka earlier this year. George Washington athletic department spokesmen could not immediately be reached for comment. Pirates Prospects first reported Ritchie's decision.

This could be a good thing. Depending on the replacement. Could be worth a few extra wins next year if they do it right. Do it right? What am I saying?

I'd almost rather them lose today, just so I know in the off season that they weren't just 1 game away from a non-losing season.

Today marks the first day that I am glad the Pirates are not in the race. I can root for Burnett to have the highest WHIP possible today for fantasy.

McCutchen's been caught stealing 12 times. Barahahahahahas and McKenry have only thrown out 19 guys.

Perfect. Gotta have at least one baserunning gaffe the last day. A pickoff will do nicely.

Wow, we're giving away runs like we plan on scoring some today. Essentially Burnett's being lifted because Pedro doesn't cover third and Jones can't get a ball out of his glove.

McCutchen's season average is going to be above .325, which is fantastic, but make no mistake, he sucked over the last couple of months.

Which pitcher will pitch the final inning this season?

Better question, which Bucco will end the season and how will he end the season?

Hanrahan, Clement, K looking.

From 72-90 to 79-83.

Keep on improving that record. Waited a few extra weeks to collapse this time around. Maybe next year we will wait a few more.

My prediction was 78-84, they beat me by 1 (as hard as they tried not to)

Blind guesses for next year?

84-78 is my opening guess, resulting in yinzers being thrilled the streak is over (as if 84-78 and 79-83 are any different), and me being pissed they couldn't hold on to the 2nd WC spot
