Bump. This Memorial day weekend we have no plans and all our friends are heading out of town. Was thinking of a Friday day trip somewhere that we can take the dogs, maybe to let them swim? and have a little picnic or something. Any suggestions within an hour or so of the Burgh?

I've been thinking about doing that zip line at seven springs.

That is always where we end up, up that way. I've seen ohiopyle more times than I can count, and the laurel highlands too. I was thinking of heading south in to WV, or up north somewhere.

This is intriguing, but that would take about 8 hours worth of driving to complete.

I'm planning to do nothing over Memorial Day weekend. Planning to go to the beach the following weekend though.

I've spent a lot of time on that mountain. That looks like a long drive to me. You'd probably be better off going straight to Bennezette. They have a really nice new Elk viewing area/visitor center. If it's a day trip, I'd go there then hit the Straub Brewery in Saint Marys.

Ooo, brewery. Never thought of that. Of course we'd have to leave the dogs at home...

Just in case you didn't get it last year, Hocking Hills. (About 3 hours)

Stupid Ohio put it in their tourism ad that's airing in Pittsburgh. It's supposed to be my secret!

As far as within one hour, how about McConnells Mill?

Will probably take the kids and do some geocaching this weekend.

My dad grew up ten minutes from Centralia. It's really not as cool as you'd think. You could swing by it however if you're planning a trip to Pottsville to tour the Yuengling Brewery. The nearest town to Centralia, Ashland, is about twenty minutes from Pottsville and has the Pioneer Coal Mine tour that is pretty rad.

Thanks, unfortunately that's a 4 hour 1 way trip. Too much driving for one day.

I have a friend who is up there today doing it. I will let you know what he says about it, but probably wont hear back from him till Friday since he is up there for a work event (the jeep off-roading thing is a team building activity they are doing). I would imagine that it probably is pretty fun for someone who doesn't do any type of off-roading, and that it would be pretty lame for someone like yourself.

Kind of what I figured. I already have done offroading for years and I figure they won't let me beat their jeeps like I beat my rides. Lol

whoa, blast from my childhood here. My mom took us up here when I was about 10 or 11. The deep canyons between the rocks are extremely cool. Perfect for a kid that likes to explore stuff

That seems familiar. I think I went there when I was little.

Look at the store page.

kenny the kangaroo went to rock city near olean, new york. it appears to be the same concept. that place kind of sucked considering you had to pay to look at a bunch of rocks.
