That's the funny thing, no release date. This could still be vaporware like almost everything else Balmer has demoed at these conferences.

Love or hate Apple, when they demo a product they have pricing and release known.

Yesterday Microsoft confirmed all current Windows Phone 7 devices will not be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 8.

Huh?

That is the kind of poor planning that is eroding their market share in everything that isn't workstations and game consoles.

I've been eligible for a reduced price new phone for a long time now - theres just nothing on the market I really want. At least not on T Mobile. If they offered the Lumia 900 I would've probably bought one. I've had an Android since the G1, I don't want a Blackberry, and I use my phone as a music player too much to want an iphone (strongly dislike itunes software).

Looks like the base model Surface is going for the $199 price point and a late October release date.

i have a hard time finding value at that price. i bought my netbook 3 years ago for $180 and im still thrilled with it.

the main thing that has kept me from getting a tablet is what im doing right now. my main pc is plugged into the tv (playing the penguins game now) and my netbook is sitting on the arm of my chair while i type. I feel like needing to hold a tablet and not being able to type on it is the major reason i havent jumped in.
