By this logic there is no such thing a a rivalry. Rather, each year, the team that has the theoretically better team will evaluate whether it is worthwhile to play its rival this season on a cost benefit/risk management basis.

Right... Schedule strength has nothing to do with the FBS bowl selection right? Why would any team want to play a heatd rival having a losing year (and possibly suffer a Bowl eliminating loss - in large part due the the "rival" nature of the game), instead of playing a game like lastr years LSU game which was featured on "College Game Day" and helps recruiting?

Why would LSU take the risk of playing an inferior WVU team? What's in it for them? They play a brutal schedule and are featured on Game Day every year with or without WVU. Why play a weak (relatively speaking) OOC team? LSU had as much to gain from that game last year as WVU allegedly does against Pitt this year.

Trying to buy tickets to the OSU-Michigan game so my dad can come up and watch it is near impossible. I have one, but I want 2 together. People are asking $500 or more for them. I'm not sure I'd even pay $500 for 2 tickets to a National Championship game or even a Game 7 of the SCF.

Pitt ensures that their fans can always find a seat by constantly underperforming and finding new, soul-crushing ways to lose. This keeps attendance down so the foolhardy, er diehard fans can always get a seat.

There had been 343 days between losses for the West Virginia University football program going into last weeks game... The Mountaineers haven't had to show how they respond to a loss since nearly a year ago.

The Wildcats are tough... I'm not sure the 'Eers have what it takes (particulary on defense) to play a Top 10 program right now.

Bring it though, This tough Big 12 schedule doesn't give you much of a chance to catch your breath. From this fans standpoint, there's a noticeable difference this year as opposed to playing in the BE.
