Don't even get me started on ethanol. Wondering why so many of your food prices are so high? Ethanol.

Ethanol was a start to finding alternative fuel sources that oil companies accepted. It isn't the future, and it really shouldn't be the present. But it is a start.

Ethanol was a gift to mid-western farmers from their elected officials.

This is the american system at work. Learn it. Live it. Love it.

I think Al Gore even apologized for pushing ethanol.

It takes more energy to make a gallon of ethanol than a gallon of ethanol can produce. It's not the answer. Its the problem.

I agree its not the answer. I was stating that it was an attempt that failed miserably and needs to be ceased.

Oh it's $4 a gallon now btw. No outrage, no one is upset, slow and steady and people ignore it.

Funny to go back and read this... paid over $4 in Ross Twp. today.

You heard what President Obama said... everyone has to pay their fair share. This is just a penalty on driving.... that trickles down to everything else. Wait, did I say trickle down?  :scared: :pop:

5 years or so.

Right now, people get scared at the $4, so they cut back and stop driving. Gas goes down and usage goes back up. But just like anything, $3+ is the norm. As the upper $3s become the norm, $4 won't look as scary and we'll start the next trend to $5.

But people are still scared of $4. In a few years, they won't be.

I'd say in 5 years gas will be $8 a gallon at least.

Who isn't upset? I just paid $56 for 3/4 tank of gas.

Side note: where are all of these people four years ago that said the high gas prices were Dubya's fault?

I suppose it's the media that is ignoring it.

And I thought my $56 for 3/4 tank was bad. Let's estimate and say that's $70 a tank. That's still turrible for a 4 cylinder, although I have to throw 93 in it. :(

However, that's not nearly as bad as almost $200. I forgot about the days where I had my Jimmy and it was costing me about $300-350/mo in gas.

2004 Saturn ion 4 cylinder. 12 gallon tank so I average about 37-40 per fill up. I guess this is ok?

When do they start mixing fall/winter gas? That is supposedly cheaper than the additives refineries use for summer gas.

Heard on the news this morning that this just started. We are "over the hump" as far as summer gas goes.

Do you have a 1.8t? I recently traded in my Honda and now drive a 04 VW 1.8t and don't get nearly that mileage with 93 octane.
