Well, I got off to a decent start this week, but the Pats defense has just ended my season.

Austin's 0 points and injury hurts. My opponent and I cancelled out with C Johnson vs A Johnson. Would like Brady to continue running things up... another TD would be nice to pad his stats. F Jones barely salvaged being useful with that receiving TD.

Of course I am up against Brady this week... and the 7 TDs hurt me @ K too since I only got 7 pts.

So CBS just added a second DTD for New England DST last night. I'm not sure about that one. The kicking team recovers a fumble and scores and that is DST points? Isn't that technically the New England "offense?" For example, if New England converts a TD on a fake punt, is that a DST score? If the same personnel on the field recovers a fumble on a dropped punt and scores a TD then it becomes a TD that they get credit for?

That was counted against me from the start last night. Since the special teams technically scored the TD, they get the points. It really sucks, but that's the way it is.

ESPN only has the DST with one TD. This is getting a little metaphysical, but what is "special teams" on CBS and Yahoo! that is not included in how ESPN looks at it?

That's a good question....I'm in a Yahoo league and it was posted right away.

It was not posted in CBS when I went to bed around 2:00 am last night. Its on there today, though.
Realistically, its a tougher beef with the kickoff team than with the punt team. Punt team can actually run an offensive play while the kicking team cannot.

I had a pretty solid game from A Foster, but my opponent had Stafford, Leshoure, and the Pats D yesterday. I am going to need Scam Newton to put up a circa-October 2011 performance Monday night.

I am in a must win and had Stafford, Welker, Graham, who had fine games. My opponent got 25+ from Bryant and 25 from Pats D. Eff.

So I had Willis Mcgahee and he's obviously out and the FA selection was pretty thin. Who's my best option? Pierre Thomas, Larod Stephens-Howling, Ronnie Hillman, or James Starks?

If Hillman is still available, grab him IMMEDIATELY. By far, the best option in that entire bunch.

Tough call. What do you need out of the spot? Upside play is Hillman or the hyphen. Good for at least some points play is Starks or Thomas.

I guess I should clarify. I have all 4 on my roster. I've started Stephens-Howling in my flex spot the last few weeks but Bennie Wells should be back this week. I have Ray Rice in one RB spot, so I need to fill one RB and one WR/RB, which I could use Stevie Johnson in.

Hmm. My friend's CBS league only has the Pats at 1 TD in that league. And I noticed that the Pats are only at 4 Defensive Fumble Recoveries. So they're getting credit for the TD but on the FR in my league. Wtf.

Here's an article on ESPN covering D/ST scoring from the Packers Fake FG TD earlier this year.

http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/footb ... id=8376801

What makes for a special teams touchdown?

The Green Bay Packers' first touchdown in Thursday's game came courtesy of a trick play, when the field goal unit lined up for what appeared to be a 42-yard attempt. The ball was snapped to holder Tim Masthay -- who also serves as the punter -- who flipped a short pass to tight end Tom Crabtree, who rumbled to the end zone for the touchdown.

The scoring on the play therefore goes down as a 27-yard touchdown pass from Masthay to Crabtree. Why not credit the special teams unit, since the "field goal unit" is traditionally part of "special teams?" Because special teams scoring does not account for passing touchdowns; only return touchdowns are scored, as clearly stated in the ESPN Scoring Settings for Standard Leagues. Defense/Special teams receive credit for return touchdowns, having gained possession of the ball after the opposing team has snapped it and either kicked it, fumbled it or had it intercepted. There is no circumstance in which a Defense/Special Teams unit can be credited for a touchdown pass or reception.

The reason behind this limitation is to avoid having interpretation of intent influence a scoring play. If Aaron Rodgers were the holder on field goal attempts and he had been the one to flip the ball to Crabtree, it would be obvious that he should be credited for a 27-yard touchdown pass, just as Crabtree, who is unowned in ESPN standard leagues, is credited for a 27-yard touchdown reception. And yes, this does mean that, if you own Masthay in an ESPN standard league which rosters punters, your received a nice scoring bonus of however your league settings score 27-passing yards and a touchdown pass out of your punter slot. But you won't get the same from the Packers' D/ST.

Nuge, Hillman and its not close. Additionally Denver has the best remaining schedule for a RB.
