Agreed, maybe I am wrong but I will never ever be able to see past Spygate. The thing that I always argued was I hated the "payers still have to make plays" argument. The thing about what they did was they constantly put the players in the best position to succeed, doesnt mean they always will, there are some great players on the other teams.
My example is always the James Harrison play in the Super Bowl. Regardless if he did some on his own, the Steelers called a zone blitz. If Kurt Warner or the coach knows this and calls a fade and and the corner still breaks it up, its a game changing play we didnt know about. Players can still make plays, stop an audibled run, but the bottom line is they always put themselves in position to not fail. But if the Cardinals kick a field goal that is a game changing play - those negative type plays rarely happened to the Pats.
After I read the book (and tried to read it with an open mind) I cant stomach them at all. The quotes and evidence from players long before Spygate even came about (getting copies of other teams audibles, Flutie admitting that the QB helmets had a 2nd feed that talked to the QB during the play, Bradys contract and so forth), I just cant barely watch games. The Josh McDaniels section is so damning its scary.
It was systematic cheating and it won them super bowls. Even if they are legit now, they deserved a much harsher penalty and players have been exiled from the sport and other entities for less.
It destroyed other players and coaches legacies and for that they deserve nothing.
I hate the ravens, their coach and everything about Ray Lewis. But if they win and win fair and square so be it, I just think Brady and The Genius should have a tarnished legacy, because in the process they tarnished someones legacy, whether it be Manning, or McNabb or Schottenheimer or Rivers (and would have been Cowher if he didnt come across a super bowl). Just cant get past that in my mind.
Flame away at me. I cant help it.
