Yet another example of Pittsburgh flotsam succeeding elsewhere.

Watching these 2 games today makes me realize Pirates hitting this season, even at its best, was nowhere near playoff competitive.

All kinds of productive outs, run manufacturing. Take notes, Bucs

Another great, productive at-bat by Nate McLouth. A huge part of the big wild-card win by the Orioles. Good for him :pop:

I'm rooting for Orioles to win it all. My roommate is from Baltimore but is a Steelers fan and was pulling for the pirates all year. This is my payback to him. Not proud to root for a Baltimore team but I'd rather root for the O's instead if the Ravens

I saw my first MLB game at old Memorial Stadium in 1991 (last year before Oriole Park), so I have a soft spot in my heart for the O's. I'd like to see them win it.

John Russell's probably in the clubhouse sipping a warm flat ginger ale and telling the players to use coasters

I'm starting to think that wasn't that bad of a call.

According to the rule, infield fly is called when an infielder can make a catch with an ordinary effort... Kozma was underneath it waiting for it, looked pretty ordinary to me. He made a gaffe obviously due probably to crowd noise, but that looked like a pretty easy catch for him.

Now the wording of the rule is stupid because he was way too deep for that to be a legit infield fly - the infield fly rule is in place to protect the base runners from a double play. That ball lands and they easily advance a base without a force out.
