But, seriously, I'm trying to figure out how the playoff team with the worst record is the top choice to win it?

Better team than they were last year and they have fister pitching like he did last year for the first time this season.

Tigers got a nice 1st round matchup - A's pitching has absolutely no playoff experience. Scherzer and Fister are very solid. Fister has a 2.67 ERA with 89:22 K:BB after the break. Sanchez has been great since his first 2 starts in Detroit.

Really the only reason I chose them over the Rangers is because I don't feel like having Rangers go to WS 3 straight years. Reds could definitely win it, but I'm not sold on their bats, namely Bruce, Ludwick, and Frazier to produce like they have in the regular season. And outside of Cueto I'm not huge on any of the starters other than maybe Latos

I can't believe Atlanta is starting Medlen tonight. He's been good, yes, but man I have a hard time not throwing Hudson

Speaking of Max Scherzer, how creepy is this:

Scherzer seems like he pitched way better than his numbers this year. I wonder whether his advanced stats bear that out.

Their infield defense is about as bad as it gets....that could have inflated some of his stats.

Yeah, he has the 6th lowest xFIP in the league at 3.23 (3.74 ERA). Wainwright and Samardzija seem to be the only other guys with that big a discrepancy.

Also, he and Porcello have by far the highest BABIP against in the league.

I agree entirely. If I were the manager, the possibility wouldn't have even occurred to me to not throw Hudson.

If I were manager of the cards, I wouldn't even consider playing lohse in a one game playoff.

He's been beyond good. They win, then have Hudson go in game 1.

Braves over Cards
Rangers over O's

Rangers over Yanks
Tigers over A's

Nats over Braves
Giants over Reds

Rangers over Tigers
Nats over Giants

Rangers over Nats

Divisional Series schedule is beyond stupid, with better records starting on the road.

Isnt there a rule too that divisional foes cant face each other in the first round? I know of at least a few times the best record had to play the 2nd best record in a best of 5 because of that stupid rule.

Yeah, went away with the new wild card system. I like the new system with the bigger advantage of winning the division, just not how they scheduled things.

Ugh...so much more stressful than anygame 5 or 7. Baseball should not be decided by 1 game series...though its just the wildcard game...should have won the division.

That Chipper error was absolutely brutal. If they end up losing, what a horrible way to go out.

This is pretty painful. They have had some epic comebacks this season though. Not that huge a lead.

And the optical allusion to us that his left (brown) eye looks smaller in size, when they actually are almost exactly the same.
