He is basically going to directly replace McCann's presence if he leaves after this contract.

Holliday was just asked if he was worried for his safety at any point. He replied "Naw a bottle wouldn't hurt me". Awesome.

As a cards fan, that was a terrible call, but I don't think the braves were coming back from that terrible defense.

Answer [Response to complaints about the call] is the same as always - shouldn't have thrown 3 balls away and you wouldn't have had to worry about that call

Better?

Agreed. Timing of the call seems to be the only issue. Will never be reversed on protest.

Anyone know of an instance when a protest wasn't denied. I actually didn't know protest meant anything until today's game.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm sure there's been one, sometime.

Just read through my twitter feed. Funny how all the baseball guys said it shouldn't have been IF fly because it was too deep. I'd think they'd either know the rule or check on the rule before they spout off about how bad the call was.

...apparently you didn't watch the game or even attempt to understand the context of the call...both due to your initial comment and the two plays you referenced. As the situations they played out in were nothing like this play...and were directly game deciding plays.

I had the game off and on but I saw the play live. It was a horrible call, but I found it hilarious that it happened to the Braves and loved every second of it. The Pirates have been screwed out of 2 big games (19 inning game that started their collapse last year and the shot at the World Series in 1992) because of gift calls from the umps given to the Braves. No sympathy to them from me.

At least they still had 2 innings to come back, the Pirates had no shot in those games as the horrible calls ended the game.

Nate McLouth just hit a gigantic clutch RBI single to give the Orioles a 2 run lead.
